Blood test results

I recently had private blood tests done and the thyroid results were:

TSH 0.08 (range 0.27-4.2)

Free T3 5.02 (range 3.1-6.8)

Free T4 11.2 (range 12-22)

I take 75 mcg T4 per day plus 15 mcg T3 liothyronine per day and followed the suggested testing rules from here. I still have a lot of symptoms including headaches, brain fog, bloating/gas, fatigue, dry eyes and problems sleeping. I also have 3 monthly B12 injections so it's difficult to know which is causing the symptoms. My vitamin D level was 60 so I'm taking vitamin D with vitamin K and also take magnesium.

I was wondering if I should ask my GP if I can have an increase in T4 and would be grateful for any advice/views on my results.

Was test done early morning, around 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Last 5mcg dose T3 approx 8-12 hours before test

many members on levothyroxine plus small dose T3 find they need both Ft4 and Ft3 at approx 70% through range

Vitamin D needs improving to at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

What were folate, ferritin results

Do you take daily vitamin B complex as well

As you have B12 injections it’s recommended also to supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help maintain B12 levels between injections

If 3 months is too long between injections you can request 2 monthly time scale

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement

Dry eyes. Are you using preservative free eye drops regularly to help reduce dryness

Thank you for all the information. The test was done per your guidelines and ferritin was 115 ( 13-150) and folate 10.34 (greater than 3.89). I am now taking a B12/folate supplement, magnesium and vitamin D with K spray. I stopped taking vitamin D in the summer but it seems that I need to take it all the time. I haven't had antibodies tested recently but in 2018 thyroglobulin was 58.7 (0.00-115.00) and thyroid peroxide antibodies 27.1 (0.00-34.00) but the consultant who I saw said I had hashimoto's. I've never had an ultrasound scan. I have a fairly regular diet not vegan or vegetarian but do try and eat lots of veg. I'm not gluten or dairy free. I've had a test for celiac and also gluten intolerance, both were negative. I tend to buy lactose free milk as my daughter discovered she is lactose intolerant. I do use eye drops in the winter, my eyes seem to be fine during the summer. I will try and make an appointment to see the GP and ask for more frequent B12 jabs as I do get symptoms before the 3 months is up such as a sore tongue and also try for a higher dose of T4 to see if that helps. Once again thank you all your help and links.

it’s ALWAYS worth trying strictly gluten free diet 3-6 Months

Does need to be strictly gluten free to be effective

Also dairy free rather than lactose free might be better
