Re: ?D102 test

Hiya! Does anyone know, please:

1) If the D102 test is the one that tests for the gene related to t4 to t3 conversion?

2) I looked at Regenerus Labs and on the test it says:

“DI02 Support telephone consultation…Recommended: Contact practitioner before placing order”

does anyone know what this means/is for?

I can't even find the DIO2 test on the Regenerus website! Can you give us a link to it? there used to be info about this test on the Thyroid UK website, but that seems to have disappeared now too.

regenerus website menu - “tests” section, select “other”, “genetic”…sorry I’m rushing around…

I still can't find the actual test. Only the link for the 'support consultation'. regeneruslabs.com/collectio...

If I recall correctly, when they first offered this DIO2 test, it was considered essential to offer 'emotional counselling' for any genetic test. (In case it revealed something that might upset you). Totally unnecessary for this specific test, but also irrelevant now because genetic testing is so widely available now.

To answer your other question, yes the DIO2 test is the one that tests for the gene related to t4 to t3 conversion.

Ahhhhhaaaaa….yes, you’re right….so it is for the telephone consultation not the actual test itself. Thank you for spotting that and explaining. I didn’t get what is was about. Does that mean they would do the actual test after the tel. consultation?

No idea! But, given the test is not listed, I'm guessing they don't do it as an individual test any more. (The counselling thing might have been left there by mistake).

Maybe contact them and ask?

Thanks, RedApple. Yes, I’ll ask for further info.

Please let us know! 😊

They emailed and said the test has been “discontinued due to low demand.”

Thanks for letting us know this. Presumably that's why there's no longer any info on the Thyroid UK website about it either 😞

It may be possible to get this information through other DNA testing, but you would first need to find out for sure whether the specific snps are included before you commit to purchase. I did a 23&Me test many years ago, and happen to have the relevant snps in my results, but I know that later variations of the 23&Me tests did not include them.

Thanks for the info RedApple. I’m going to have a look at the Blue Horizons D102 test and will keep your advice in mind.

By the way, it's an abbreviation for Deiodinase-2, so it's Dee Eye Oh Two (DIO2), not Dee One Zero Two (D102) 😊

Ah, thanks SD. I can see DIO2 is listed in the report, so I wonder why it's not mentioned on the main info. And even worse, they did not tell JoJoloveschocolate when she contacted them!

Another member range them a week or so ago asking about the discontinued separate Dio2 test

The person at Regenerus didn’t know it was included in the new DNA test!

I think the heat and all my rushing about yesterday has boiled my brain. Just looked again at the email- they said in the email that the DIO2 has been discontinued due to low demand,, but I could consider another DNA test, when I clicked the link it didn’t go to the test they were referring to and they didn’t say that it had the DIO2 in it. I just thought they were trying to get me to buy a different test.! Sorry for the confusion everyone. x

Hello

I have literally just ordered and received the Regenerus test. I had to ring them initially as they have changed the testing to incorporate it in another test, and as others have said, it isn’t clear. Even the lady I spoke to at Regenerus didn’t know that until she enquired! Nothing was said about a consultation though. I plan to do the test next week when I’ve time to sit and read the process. How much is the consultation? I was planning to try and sift through the Paul Robinson files.

I like that Regenerus have a phone line as against Blue Horizon. I try to avoid those businesses as queries end up being slow and frustrating. Both are around the same price and I haven’t found any others that test Dio2, except possibly Ancestry and they are unhelpful.

Keep us updated, I’m interested to know how you get on.

The “consultation” I mentioned in my original post was related to the old test that was discontinued. I don’t know about the test you bought, sorry.

I have rung Blue Horizon and they were helpful.

Also used their live chat from memory and their responses were rapid and useful.

Good to know. Thanks. I’m looking at Blue Horizon too

They told me they don’t have a phone line. Is this a recent thing? Very useful information if so

I think I rang them after I did the test so probs the contact was on the paperwork. I know I spoke to a human and they sorted out my query.
