Pernicious Anaemia Blood Tests

Hi,

I'm looking at the Medichecks pernicious anaemia blood test, and I realise I've had most or all of these tested already and can post the results below. Can anyone help me interpret them please? I'm waiting for a GP call over the next couple of days, and was going to request a test to rule Pernicious anaemia out, but it seems like they've possibly all been done already. I do need to speak to them about being put back on to levothyroxine, and to ask about raising my ferritin levels and possibly raising my b12 levels too.

Full Blood Count

Total white cell 8.8 (4.0-11.0)

Haemoglobin estimation 145 (115-165)

Platelet 293 (150-400)

Red blood cell count 4.85 (3.80-5.50)

Haematocrit 0.44 (0.37-0.47)

MCV 92 (80-100)

MCH 29.9 (27-33)

Red blood cell distribut width 12.6% (11-14.8)

Neutrophil 4.5 (1.7-7.5)

Lymphocyte 3.6 (1.0-4.5)

Monocyte 0.6 (0.2-0.8)

Eosinophil 0.2 (0.0-0.4)

Basophil 0 (0.0-0.1)

Nucleated red blood cell 0

Ferritin 20 (15-300)

Folate 6.8 (>3)

Serum B12 343 (180-900)

Serum TSH 4.01 (0.55-4.78)

TPO >1300

Serum total 25-OH vit D 75 (>50)

Can anyone see anything obviously missing that I would need to diagnose or rule out Pernicious Anaemia? The test is £280 so I wouldn't want to get it if I've already covered all the bases for diagnosis. I am however looking at the Advanced Thyroid Function Test, as I only have the results for my TSH and TPO antibodies through the GP, so I would like a more accurate picture of those results.

Thanks for reading and really grateful for your help.

I’m interested in your post as looking for the same answers, I can see you’ve had no replies yet . I’m not sure how you can get the attention of people like Seaside Susie ?? Good luck.

I'm not an expert on this - you can go over to the Pernicious Anaemia forum here on HealthUnlocked for more definitive information:

However, I believe that an MMA test (methylmalonic acid) will be helpful. If level is high this would be a sign of B12 deficiency. However, to see if the cause is Pernicious Anaemia then GP should take your own and family medical histories into account and do other tests, I believe Intrinsic Factor test is one, I believe lack of instrisic factor is a cause of PA. But as I said, I'm no expert on this so best to ask over on the PA forum.
