I got a call from my GP, she has requested I have my thyroid down again, T4 and T3 as well as Vitamin D.
I’ve had my bloods taken yesterday and was that a chore, the veins were very slow at giving anything despite lots of water taken and my arm being squeezed. They changed arms and veins on slow mo again, anyway it’s been done and I’m waiting. I don’t want anything to be wrong but I do just to get some explanation of why I’m feeling the way I do.
I have developed an numbness down the right side of my leg, almost like a burning sensation, brain fog is definitely worse I can’t remember doing things or speaking to people. To top it of I woke up this morning and i felt like I had a sore throat but as the day has progressed it’s more of a feeling that something is there when I swallow. I’m continually feeling cold, go to bed with a hot water bottle ( the water is just warm inside because I can’t have it touching my skin cause it’s too hot. I still feel tired despite going to bed at 8pm, and I try the gym but it’s like my muscles are tired , I feel slow. It’s getting me down and tbh I’m scared.
I’m taking B vitamins, selenium, zinc, vitamin C, acidophilus and magnesium. My thyroxine is taken at 5 am in the morning with water and I have coffee and my breakfast at 7:30. Eating is even a struggle right now I just want to lie down.
Thanks for listening

Did u have your iron levels, ferritin and folate tested. Was vitamin D good level.
I usually feel very tired & run down if my iron level is low or thyroid meds need adjusting. I have always had cold hands and feet, I warm my bed with electric pad one hour before I go to bed so I can go to sleep comfortably in my warm cozy bed. I turn it off few minutes after I get in for safety!
Ferritin was done before and it was raised as was cholesterol. I was handed a sheet and told to watch what i was eating .. 🙇♀️I have gained 5 stone in a year and also told I was within normal range for thyroid despite symptoms etc . My diet remains the same but symptoms getting worse. That is why they are checking t3 to see if it’s converting. I did use an electric heat pad but I stopped using it because apparently I kept switching on during the night and forgetting to tun it off 😬
What does your diet consists of. Diet of fresh fruit vegetables, fish with lentils and beans is good. Check on portion control, cutback on portions if possible. Exercise, daily, simple like walking or jogging may help. There are lot of free on line exercise classes these days, nothing like getting out in the fresh air though!
Did the dr give u cholesterol medicine?
Turn the blanket off when u get in the bed at night.
I attend the gym 6 days a week, one hour training. I eat a gluten free , no bread, pasta or rice because they were making me flushed and shaky ( had blood sugars done they are all good). I don’t take cheese, cream butter apart from fage yoghurt in overnight oats and I don’t eat potatoes. I also have two dogs and they are walked three times a day , hence why the weight gain is bizarre. During lockdown I purchased a spin bike to ensure I was still getting the exercise... frustrated.com
You need to stop any supplements that contain biotin a week before ALL BLOOD TESTS as biotin can falsely affect test results
Bloods should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
Essential to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Hamer5 not sure how old you are or if you are female, but have you considered peri-menopause as a factor. My thyroid symptoms feel like they have basically doubled with the onset of menopause ...brain fog, fatigue, temperature control, anxiety, mood swings .... all hit with a double whammy. Its a total S@#tshow if I'm being honest.
I’m 48, but it’s funny because when I initially suggested that I could be peri menopause to the doctor ‘he’ said no too young and maybe I was depressed🤨. I am definitely not depressed ( other than frustrated at how I’m feeling). I asked to speak to a female doctor she was excellent and suggested we get blood tests to check if I was peri menopausal, but when I went to have my bloods done I don’t think the nurse did that ( tbh I couldn’t remember what I was getting done, brain fog. I find that happens a lot even in the middle of a conversation I completely forget what I was discussing 🤯). I will agree it really isn’t a nice feeling.
48 'too young' ..what nonsense.... I can't remember how old i was , but i'm 54 now (i think) and i haven't had a period for what seems like about 7 years, and they'd been stopping and starting for a couple of years before that.. (i can tell you menopause is really bad for you memory)
Persevere with the hormone test if you didn't get it last time. Just knowing where you are will give you choices of how to treat it...HRT or other routes. xx
