I need to get my B12 up from 159 ng/L and am planning on starting super B complex as soon as my iron panel test is done, what is the best B12 supplement to take alongside this and which format is best- capsules, patches or sublingual lozenges? Unfortunately Dr doesn’t think my level is low so won’t give me injections.

Have you had results back from PA testing?

With such low B12 result taking a B12 supplement and a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months, then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast
Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)
Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Thank you so much for the reply, I got my results back for P/A test and Vit D and those seem fine:
Intrinsic factor antibody level 0.5 u/ml ( 0-8.5)
Serum total 25-OH vit D level: 91 nmol/L
Iron panel being done tomorrow so I’m going to start the B12 supplements as soon as that’s done.
So vitamin D is pretty good.
PA likely negative, though I understand it’s an unreliable test
But modern thinking suggests daily B12 sublingual supplements may be as good as injections
Recommend from now on you ALWAYS do full thyroid and vitamin testing at least annually...likely to need to do so privately
Come back with new post once you get PA, iron panel and vitamin D results
