This are my latest blood results from thriva with ranges!

This was taken fasted, 1st thing in the morning. On 50mcg of levothyroxine (taken 24h previous to the test)

VitD: 40 (range 75 - 175)

Ferriting 122 (range 13 - 150)

Folate 8.9 (range 8.83 - 60.8)

TSH 9.78 (range 0.270 - 4.2)

FT3 5.2 (range 3.1 - 6.8)

FT4 14.7 (range 12 - 22)

Thyroglobulin antibodies 981.2 (range 0 - 115)

T4 105.00 (range 59 - 154)

Since this test I have increased to 75 mcg and due for GP blood tests at the end of July., and I am expecting an increase in dose then.

I have also started a gluten free diet (last Thursday) along with totally eliminating other allergens that appeared as triggering my immune system in my food sensitivities test (gluten, wheat, yeast, mushrooms, eggs, cranberries, lobster, crayfish). I feel 1000x better already although I am aware there is room for improvement especially with my skin and energy levels. Anxiety and depression are much better. I have lost 9 kg in a month!

I take vit D supplements along with K2, magnesium and a multi vit B supplementation

Any input/advice?

So your TSH is moving in the right direction but still too high; plenty of room for T3 and T4 to increase - interestingly free T3 is higher in range than Free T4 - so the increase in levo will hopefully will boost T4 and reduce TSH - so all good!

As far as nutrients are concerned, I defer to SeasideSusie - but obv your vit D is low, despite supplements (are you getting outdoors when it's sunny?) and folate is low too.

You know you have Hashi's, so see how the gluten-free works for you.

You must feel better than when your TSH was 35?!

Yes definitely better!!!! I get about an hour of outdoors walking a day and I get light on my legs (I am a nurse and I wear a dress uniform :) ) other than that not much as with lockdown and work and uni I don’t go out much but I’m hoping when I lose more weight I’ll take back running :) I’ll carry on supplementing. I was happy at my T3 and T4 hopefully with time the rest will improve. I’m very surprised at the change In a month since diagnosis both in tests and symptoms!

VitD: 40 (range 75 - 175)

Ferriting 122 (range 13 - 150)

Folate 8.9 (range 8.83 - 60.8)

Your ferritin (iron stores) is fine, but don't deliberately push it any higher e.g. by supplementing iron or by eating a high iron diet. Do you supplement?

...

Your Vitamin D is diabolical.

I'm assuming the units of measurement are nmol/L.

40 nmol/L = 16 ng/mL

To do the above conversion I used this link :

grassrootshealth.net/?post_...

To find your ideal dose of vitamin D use this link :

grassrootshealth.net/projec...

(I used a weight of 140 lb to get the dose, but obviously you can put in your real weight)

You need a vitamin D3 supplement containing 5000 iU vitamin D3 per day.

Supplementing vitamin D3 raises the amount of calcium absorbed from your diet. You need that calcium to go into bones and teeth, not end up lining your arteries. To achieve that you need to supplement magnesium and vitamin K2 as well. For more info on vitamin D3, magnesium and vitamin K2 supplementing read replies to others written by Seaside Susie - she discusses the issue often :

...

Folate 8.9 (range 8.83 - 60.8)

This is also extremely poor. The optimal level for folate is in the upper half of the reference range which, with the range you have, is approximately 35 - 61. So you need to take a folate supplement. Avoid folic acid for the reasons given in this link :

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

If you use Amazon, do a search for "folate supplements". I would suggest taking a supplement of around 1000mcg folate (in some form) per day, for 1 - 2 months, then you could reduce the dose to 1000mcg three or four times a week. But you would need to test to check that you weren't still low in folate or were taking too much. I am not aware of any adverse effects of having high folate levels, but I try to keep my own within the upper half of the range.

If you take a folate supplement you also need to take a B Complex, and the best ones contain "activated" B vitamins. The two most popular B Complex supplements on this forum are

amazon.co.uk/Super-B-Comple...

thorne.com/products/dp/basi...

Shop around - prices vary. The Igennus product dose is 2 tablets a day. The Thorne product dose is 1 per day. Many of us buy either product to begin with and use it for the first couple of months, then switch to the Igennus product and take one a day.

I take a B vitamin complex, vit D3 1000 + vit D and K2 oral spray. (Vit D is 5000 in that one). I’m not supplementing anything else

Which B Complex do you take and at what dose?

It seems you aren't absorbing your vitamin D very well, if you are taking 6000 iU per day in total and your level is only 40 nmol/L. How long have you been supplementing? Are you taking the right number of sprays? Which product are you taking?

I take thriva's vit B complex, myvitamins vit D 1000 and betteryou spray with vitd and k2. I have supplemented for about a month (a bit less).

I am not willing to dose higher. . If a loading dose is wrong (too much) you can suffer ++. Remember, why should an Arctic explorer NOT eat polar bear liver? And what happens if that is forgotten?

I couldn't find a Thriva B Complex so have no idea what it contains nor at what dosage.

The Better You spray is (I'm guessing) this product :

betteryou.com/vitamin-d-k2

I hope you are taking three sprays per day, which is what the instructions say you need for that product.

Your vitamin D is very low, so your chances of becoming toxic in the near future are rather low I would have thought. But people should always test potentially toxic supplements occasionally - perhaps once or twice a year minimum. The alternative may be taking so little that people never get close to optimal levels and may stay permanently low or deficient.

I am not willing to dose higher. . If a loading dose is wrong (too much) you can suffer ++. Remember, why should an Arctic explorer NOT eat polar bear liver? And what happens if that is forgotten?

The reason why Arctic explorers shouldn't eat polar bear liver is because of the very high levels of vitamin A it contains. Vitamin D isn't the issue.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper...

But obviously you can supplement whatever you like. Nobody can twist your arm and bully you into taking something you aren't willing to take. :)

it was obviously and example as to why you should not over supplement on fat soluble vitamins (vit D is like vit C fat soluble... I am medically trained :D )

Yes! I am taking 3 sprays. It's hard not to take more cos they are very tasty

also, adding to your idea of not absorbing well. I have JUST started an allergen free diet a week ago. My gut was probably suffering before. Much likely to start absorbing better soon

Good luck with the diet.
