My latest bloods, I’m thinking I should start taking vitamin D again and B12. I just wondered what others think.
Vit D: 90.7nmol/L
You are quite close to the level recommended by the Vit D Council/Vit D Society which is 100-150nmol/L so you really only need a smallish dose, say 1,000-2,000iu D3 daily.
As for B12, a good quality, bioavailable B Complex should be fine for your needs, consider Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B which was suggested in reply to your post a month ago, did you not start taking it - healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
Currently taking 100mcg thyroxine and 7.5mcg T3 in the morning following thyroidectomy 25 years ago. Meds not taken for 24 hours before blood test.
Last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before test, last dose of T3 should be 8-12 hours before test. As you took your last dose of T3 24 hours before this test your FT3 result shows a false low.
I had been taking another vitamin B12 so thought my levels might have increased so that was the main reason for getting new bloods to check before taking more (previous vitamin test results I shared were from end of last year).
Do you think I should split my T3 dose daily rather than take it all together?
Were you taking a B Complex with your B12? It's needed to balance all the B vitamins, but your results aren't bad enough for a separate B12, either of the two brands of B Complex I mentioned should be enough.
Do you think I should split my T3 dose daily rather than take it all together?
You should split it the day before any thyroid test, but it's up to you whether you take it in or dose or multiple doses normally. Some people are fine with a single dose, others do better with split dosing.
I finished the B12 I was taking and as suggested ordered Thorne Basic B Complex but I’ve noticed some are way over the RDA particularly Thiamine. Do you know why that is, and I assume it’s safe? Thanks Emma
Most supplements show more than the RDA. If it wasn't safe I'd know, I've been taking Thorne Basic B since 2015 and I've had no problems, it raised my very low in range folate level to top of range and now maintains a good level, it also maintains my B12 at a good level but they're both within range.
