Dr. Osborne had a webcast last night on how to protect yourself by building your immune system. He made interesting comments about certain vitamins in high doses on a temporary basis. He mentioned taking vitamin c throughout the day, a high dose of vitamin d for three days, a higher dose of vitamin a (not beta carotene) for two weeks if your kidneys are not weak and l lysine. This is probably on You Tube if you want more details.

He also revealed what lowers your immune system which includes steroids, which may also be in antihistamines. Antacids and alcohol also have an effect. There are natural ones to help you wean off if you take them. He also threw in that too vigorous exercise is not good at this time. I will definitely follow that one:)

Dr. Peter Osborne wrote the book No Grain, No Pain.

*I just received a newsletter from Dr. Tom O'Bryan and he recommended something many have used before: Biocidin - A potent Broad-Spectrum Botanical Combination that targets bad bacteria but does not impact beneficial flora!. This is a product I recommend, use myself, and always travel with. Give your child 2 pumps in their mouth on their way out the door to school in the morning. Or before you head to work or get on an airplane.

I take all of those and more as a part of my protocol to treat pathogens such as parasites, bacteria and toxins to enable my immune system fight my chronic ebv and cmv. So I see why these suppliments and vitamins help in case of coronavirus too.

So many people are unaware that there are methods to build immunity and avoid disease. Thank goodness for these functional doctors who share their research.

I use coconut oil as it contains antiviral substances including monolaurin which can fight certain bacteria as well as viruses. Having had bouts of pneumonia it has helped my immune system and don't have signs of staphylococcal infection or strep throat. If I have a sore throat I gargle with a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a glass of water and it kills off bacteria .

Yes, Monolaurin is very good. It was interesting when he explained that vitamin A is a barrier support. In other words your skin and cells which are protective. Reviews about vitamin a often remark at the improvement in their skin. Of course it is a fat soluble vitamin and you need to stay away from toxic doses although for a couple of weeks even 25,000 iu are tolerable UNLESS you have kidney problems. We have to use our common sense when it comes to therapeutic doses however.

Thank you. I will take more d3 as I am eating olive oil and butter and vitalite with added vitamin d. I have had to cut down dairy due to intolerance but am trying to overcome these by finding counter vitamins minerals and enzymes which can overcome these. Vitamin is under rated as an anti-inflammatory . New find is a cup of strong coffee can help stem allergy response from a bee sting ..reported by BBC .it is thought the caffeine helps but research shows it is theophylline . Have started green tea and it is a relaxant with vitamin k. It is great learning.😄

I know it takes effort to figure out what works for you and to pay attention to cause and affect. One day we'll walk in front of a mirror and it will tell you what you are deficient in and what you need and what to do about it. Oh, how I wish because we are ready to take action if we only know what to do.

Coconut oil, is good, but just like vitamin d, not in high dosages for long periods of time it can start to cause damage. The important thing is to get tested firstly for root cause, like i mentioned, pathogens need to be addressed before treating the virus. Otherwise you could be taking something seemingly healthy but it may be giving you problems with liver, kidneys, heart etc due to other issues in your body. Always recommended to be under care of a functional doctor who is a naturopath / nutritionist.

Of course you are right but that seems to be the crux of the problem we face as patients. There is no coverage for much of what functional doctors do although some tests may be covered. Of course I am in the U.S. so is it different in the UK?

A friend in the U.S. has spent $30,000. Of course she travels across country to the clinic and I've seen the extravagant tests she has undergone. They found a genetic problem which makes it impossible to fight a certain pathogen. I could go on and on but if you have specific suggestions on how to manage this in a practical way it would be very helpful to us all.

I was living abroad when I got the virus and had to come back home to UK because I couldn't work. As I came back already with some symptoms of being ill, no insurance company wanted me. My parents tried to take out insurance for me, but they didn't let them. Also I just found out if you have ebv you can't get insurance. It's on most of their forms they ask for autoimmune / ebv. I have both and cmv too which is wrecking havoc due to parasites, toxins from mould a few years back and likely genetic mutation. In UK we have national health service and I thought I would get help.. little did I know just how unqualified and unprofessional they all are. Wasted my time for years. Until family took out a loan to help afford those fancy private tests and to see a naturopath. This journey is very very expensive with no insurance. I can barely afford the diet. The protocol and visits and tests cost us thousands. :( The only advice i now have is that whilst it set me on the right path it did not "cure" me. So I have gone out seeking more answers and discovered some groups on facebook and books and multiple studies. I can dm you the names of the books i read which helped me see i was on the right path. So you can do it yourself but you still need those initial tests which i can also recommend they will shed light. And then you should be able to do repeats once or twice a year to see if anything changed.

I think I have come to the very conclusions you have discovered. It is extremely complex which then piles on cost but at least you had findings if not a cure. To me the risks of the trial and error that most of us are forced into may stumble onto something that helps. I spend about $500 per year on supplements which I feel is nominal and your own body can relay some messages to you if you are keenly aware.

My hope is that these wonderful researching functional doctors mainly in the U.S. now have patients all over the world through Skype. If I weren't doing so well I would try one of them; hard to choose as they are all impressive. I know Tom O'Bryan who did the Broken Brain series and others will take patients and do some tests at a flat rate. More and more this is going make treatments better. They have specific tests they use and labs that can process them.

I'm so sorry you have been through the horrors of dealing with insurance. It is also a distinct problem in the U.S.

I was spending £200 a month just on suppliments :( I just cant afford this anymore. So I am trying to build up some kind of part time business from home so i can earn some money to carry on with my treatment. It is exhausting both very literally and mentally.

in reply to Glaciera

Have been taking it for over a year but usually no more than 3 teaspoons . There is evidence to say lauric acid and other substances kill bacteria and viruses and can help lower blood sugar. It can protect the spine and immune system . Can only say it has helped me

justnaturallyhealthy.com

explains it is a detox treatment and can prevent food poisoning. I would say it has helped strep and staph throat which can lead to Pandas and I don't get rainbow glug with colds. As you say it cannot replace drugs but it can help prevent infection and build immune system

You've reminded me to take vitamin d again . Great post. G

Hi there - zinc is also important - zinc drops by Bio Care are really good.

Liquid zinc? I do like not having to take pills all the time. There is a doctor who treats patients with mineral drops so I guess it's being done. Zinc is important.

It was recommended for gut bacteria and is pretty potent. I'm in the U.S. and I know Amazon has it but I've never used it.

It was a quote from Dr. O'Bryan but I did recommend it to my daughter who used it previously. She used so many supplements I don't know if she determined how helpful this was although she is much better now.
