I have been struggling a lot with acid reflux and other digestive problems , and have stayed away from prescribed meds because of RLS , Gaviscon has been my go to, but lately it’s not helping , I’m having awful pains in top of chest which radiates down my arms , especially after food , it is being investigated

Hello I’m having a bout of indigestion I have read the antacid leaflet I didn’t realise to leave 4 hours between taking levothyroxine as it interferes with the absorption, just want others to be aware

I was constantly taking Rennies or other antacids. I was staying with family over Christmas in a remote area with no shops nearby. There was no coffee in the house and I went the week without it.

This is the third day, took some antacids around 10pm - did not help. I do feel a little more anxious too. Is this just a side effect of the higher dose and will it settle? How long should I ride it out/is there anything that will help?? I honestly don't think I've had it as bad as this before!

Calcium CARBONATE: Absorbs best when taken WITH food, and is often found in antacids like Tums and Rolaids. Calcium carbonate contains more elemental calcium than calcium citrate, but it requires stomach acid to be absorbed.

No amount of antacids or medication has provided relief, and it’s just another daily battle to endure. Adding to everything, I was recently in a car accident involving a truck. Thankfully, it wasn’t worse, but it’s only made the pain and stress I’m already dealing with even harder to bear.

I'd prefer not to become dependent on antacids since they have their own health concerns. Thank you very much.

I've tried elevating my upper body when sleeping, antacids, DGL licorice, and omeprazole for the GERD without much luck. Does anyone else struggle with this and how do you deal with it?

Also on statins, no antacids. Been taking on apixaban and bP I think for 10 months Flecanide for 3 yrs. I have also got a cough first thing in the morning,not a lot..but it’s there for half hr and in the night if I wake for a wee..which is normal.

Thank God for small mercies .she had a PEG insertion done 2 weeks ago and is on 3 hourly feeds .now she suffers from severe reflux post feed , though all feeding precautions are taken .She is on pantaprazole 40 mg twice a day, domperidone 10 mg thrice , with two antacids .harrowing experience, my poor

On lansoprazole for this but still need antacids on top too occasionally. Don’t really know what to do next. I think seeing a GP about new knee pain is probably a good idea.

Over-the-counter antacids, such as Gaviscon, may also help. Another option is surgery to correct the hiatus hernia. I’d suggest your son speaks to his GP.

I was told not to take Tums, or antacids.

In the past I used BC pills, Proton Pump Inhibitors and antacids, so doctors think that those meds could have caused malabsorption. I also was iron anemic for around 5 years, cause unknown, and I eat meat often and tested negative for celiac. I still always have very low Ferratin.

Apparently antacids may do same but there is less evidence. Aside from lifestyle changes is anyone who has experienced RLS augmentation aware of other options or had experience with H2 Receptor Antagonists (for treating severe reflux)?

Now I've read omeprazole is not an antacid and everywhere says there are no interactions with ppi's and sulfasalazine just antacids and you shouldn't take antacids within 2 hours of sulfasalazine. I seem to be spending my days living my life by the clock to take meds!

I have tried all sorts of solutions... have been prescribed antacids for GERD (didnt work), have tried antihystamines and changed bed clothes/diet in case of allergies (didn't work), drink lots of water, taken over the counter pain killers. Nothing touches it.
