I have been on 200mcg of T4 only for years and years...GP will test for TSH and nothing else!! GP will not EVER prescribe T3...as far as he is concerned...it isn't needed!!!
I am on Igennus Super B complex, one a day and taking the oral spray from Better you for vitamin D (DLUX3000) x 2 sprays daily
Hi, test done whilst supplementing, except for a week before test for B complex as biotin interferes with testing. I can't ingest vitamin C in even the smallest amounts as it causes my eczema to flare badly. Kind of a lost cause really...in all areas!!
Presumably you stopped any vitamin B complex a week before testing
Are you vegetarian?
Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
GP should prescribe folic acid, but you may be better off taking a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial. This would also help B12
B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast
Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).
Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
I am taking the following supplements: Better you DLUX300 vitamin D spray x 2 sprays daily, Igennus Super B complex, 1 x daily, Ferrous sulphate for iron. I stopped ALL vitamin tablets that contained any Biotin a week before the test as told I was told to by you.
I am not vegetarian - far from it. I am not affected by gluten in my diet, I have no problems digesting it, never have experienced any side effects of eating gluten that I am aware of.
Lactose intolerance occurs at a high frequency in HT patients. Lactose restriction leads to decreased levels of TSH, and LI should be considered in hypothyroid patients who require increasing LT4 doses, have irregular TSH levels and are resistant to LT4 treatment.
D) Not on any 'free' diet. I barely eat most days with working and looking after my mum with Alzheimer's, let alone have the time and effort to concentrate on avoiding certain food types. I cannot eat seafood of any kind or description as I go into anaphylaxis if I do eat seafood.
E) I live in East Anglia, Cambridgeshire.
F) I can't stomach liver and never eat paté either, I become seriously ill. Most other meats like beef, pork, lamb...no problems.
G) Vitamin C, my body only tolerates in microscopic amounts.
H) I take two ferrous sulphate tablets per day, more than the recommended dose but the blood results still say that my levels are still abismal.
Sorry for the bullet points, it helps me keep my train of thought, no offence intended.
Thank you for your advice. It is greatly appreciated. 😊
Hi, I forgot to answer the question re Di02 test. No, never had it done, chiefly because of cost but they insist on sending the results to your GP....to be honest and to quote 2 clichés - he is about as useful as a chocolate teapot and the genetic report would be like throwing pearls at swine.
