Little bit of hope for hair loss sufferers

Hi all,

I know everyone is different but after following this group for 2 years and having some helpful advice I wanted to post an update which may help others.

I have been suffering with hair loss for 21 months and lost allot of hair ( over 200 a day).

I have had all the blood work under the sun and apart from being hypo nothing else showed up. I increased by ferritin just to see if it helped ( to 100) but nothing. Took biotin, vit d, vitamin b, vitamin c, saw palmetto, selenium, magnesium, zinc etc etc.

Nothing at all worked. I spent allot of money on shampoos and conditioners. Including all the vitamins... I paid for private bloods and endo appointments.

In the end the result was the same. I was diagnosed as being hypo and suffering from chronic fatigue with some adrenal fatigue ( not addisons but not far off..).

I decided in sheer desperation to try two more things then there was nothing else I could think of trying. I have been waiting to see a dermatologist for 4 months.

I started taking nourkrin about 7 weeks ago, two a day. Within a few weeks the hair loss reduced and at first I thought perhaps I was imagining it being wishful thinking. However, this week I combed my hair each day and washed it every 3 days ( from only washing once a week due to the massive amount I would loose - golf ball size of hair each day from brushing and more when washing) and I have lost from 5-15 hairs a day combing and today I lost no more than 50 hairs washing and drying it! I honestly believe it is nourkrin due to the fact my meds are the same, I stopped taking vitamins months ago when I realised after a year they really weren’t doing anything. I’ve been vegan for a year instead of vegetarian and been gluten free for a year.

Yes the cost is expensive but if it works it’s a price I’m willing to pay! I was able to find them on offer so works about about £20 a month.

If anyone else has the same experience I would love to know.

Hi

Just had a look at nourkrin and seems it's mostly biotin and cherry extract (high antioxidants ?) And fish extract which is most likely high omega 3.....(not sure what horsetail extract is or would Do.)

All which would help with hair growth and health and as a vegan you probably are low on a lot of those (is this even vegan friendly ?)...

Can I ask if you are vegan because of health choices or choose to be for ethical reasons?

If the former I don't know it's benefitting you as much as you think - and I wouldn't encourage you to stop all your supplements as it's almost certain that you are not getting enough folate, iron, b vitamins etc in your diet alone and you most likely need to continue supplementing (even if it doesn't help the hair issue it will be helping plenty of others)

Some people have found if their ferritin is too high 100-120 it can make the hair issue worse again.

Between 70-100 seems to be a better range

If nourkrin works that's great, but do be careful about stopping other supplementstion as you may be worse off in the long run

Thanks Saya85

When I was taking supplements I was going over range. I’ve been vegetarian for over 25 years ( since I was a child) but became vegan last year. I eat allot of healthy food so my vitamins etc have always been pretty good.

During my pregnancies the first two all was fine but my last one (5 years ago) my ferritin dropped below 10 so I needed iron supplements. However despite this it never affected my hair.

I completely agree with what you are saying about what is in nourkrin and like you I can’t justify why it works as I took biotin and omega 3 etc etc and they didn’t work. However, this has definitely worked for me.

I stopped taking vitamins etc back in September and my bloods ( end of December) all came back with everything on top of range ( the doctor gives me the specific results).

I wasn’t expecting them to work, I decided to try them then viviscal just to see and hope. I went with nourkrin as after reading allot of their studies they sound more scientific

That's good to hear.

Could it be that you were over supplementing recently which caused the hair loss and maybe coming.off them and normalising your vitamin ranges has helped your hair to regrow aswell? Just a thought

Also during pregnancy high progetsserone as well as other hormones can make your hair really thick and strong so maybe the low ferritin didn't matter as much at the time.

Either way am glad you found something that works

I've stopped my hair falling out but now need to concentrate on getting it to regrow and become healthy.... Might need to chop off all my split ends first! 🙂

It is also prescribed in Spain and other European countries by dermatologists. Seems to be the Marilex. Although I would rather take an animal free products I was so desperate to try anything

Horsetail is an old herbal remedy contains many nutrients and minerals. Antioxidants and Anti inflammatories.

Apparently it's the silica that is helpful for the hair.
