It doesn't help with Hashi's, it just increases stomach acid - hypos usually have low stomach acid - so that we can digest our food better and increase absorption of nutrients and thyroid hormone replacement. :)

I'm afraid I don't know why, sorry.

PPI's are for high stomach acid. Not a good thing to take at all, can cause all sorts of horrible problems, and should only be taken for a short period, anyway.

I don't know if having Grave's affects stomach acid. But, in any case, just because you're diagnosed with something, doesn't always mean you have it. When doctors don't know what's wrong with you, they often make up things to 'diagnose' you with! And, they often don't know the difference between Grave's and autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashi's). How was your Grave's diagnosed? Did they test the antibodies? If so, which one's?

Yes greygoose they tested TRAB antibodies for graves two years ago and they were positive when they diagnosed me last month they been tested again and TRAB antibodies are borderline at the moment ..you are right I took myself off from PPI s after a short time bcs they were not working for me new endi thinks its hashimoto thyroiditis bcs twicecits been showed on the ultrasound but they won't treat it bcs of normal blood results but they do know I have a goiter and noudle on top and my stomach gastritis started after I was diagnosed with grave's disease two years ago

Oh dear! Sounds complicated.

But there isn't any treatment for Hashi's. The only thing you can do is replace the thyroid hormone when the thyroid becomes too damaged to make its own.

I find taking vit c with everything is very good for low stomach acid. Do you take any supplements?

Yes i do vitamins 2000iu a day brought my b12 to 768 then GPsaid stop taking it couple of months ago my recent ferritin has dropped again in abt two three months from 62 to 32 again so have started taking ferrous furmarate with vitamin c again wondering y it has dropped my thyroid noudle pain is getting bad everyday

If I were you, I would start B12 again. 768 is not high, and it could drop again if you don't maintain it. But, go for a 1000 mcg sublingual tablet for maintenance. Are you taking a B complex, too?

I should imagine your ferritin has dropped again because you have low stomach acid and can't absorb it from food.

And, as I said, you could try taking vit C during, or before a meal to help with absorption.

I have started taking b12 as well and I always take them with bcomplex but when I try to take ACV or any digestive enzymes they give me alit stomach pain if I have low stomach acid then it should help but they don't even fresh lemon in the water does same issue
