Help with results please and advise ,thankyou

Hi All

I would be extremely thankful if someone could help me with my test results , I presented in October 2017 with extreme fatigue ,cold hands,very painful muscles and joints ,breathless ,dim eyesight ,sensitivity to light and loud noises persistent dry cough ,raspy voice and strange feeling in my throat along with memory loss and a strange feeling of unreality. This all added up to a nightmare scenario,trying to run a business as an art therapist and tutor. The doctor offered me anti depressants and tramadol, and said it sounded like fibromyalgia . i asked for blood tests , I post the relevant ones

TSH 1.8 0.2-4.5

These were considered normal and I was left floundering ,distressed and ill.

I never felt easy or convinced with this diagnosis

I went back after xmas and saw another doctor who was a different kettle of fish ,he suspected subclinical hypothyroidism and started me on 25mcg Levothyroxine

free T4 12 9-21

50mcg after 6 weeks

TSH 1.6 0.2- 4.5

Free T4 13 9-21

B12 1018 180-2000(had been supplementing)

Folate 7.7 2.8-20

Ferritin 76 20-300

Vit D 84 25-162

62.5mcg after 6 weeks

TSH 0.55 0.2-4.5

Free T4 15

He then decided to do the bloods after 3 weeks because he was afraid of the low TSH

TSH 0.09 0.2-4.5

Free T4 15 9-21

Free T3 4.9 2.5 - 6.2

Total T3 1.5 0.9-2.4

Do be honest I only feel marginally better .

He has upped the dose to 75mcg . In the past few days I have had acute gastritis and wonder f I am actually absorbing the Levothyroxine.

I would be eternally thankful for any advise and insight . Thankyou.

Have you always been on the same brand of medication? I'm just wondering if different fillers have caused the gut problem. I do think you are undermedicated so putting your dose up is a positive move. Please start another post when you get your results for comment. I'm not convinced though your GP knows what he is doing as concern re low TSH and then giving more medication! May be he has been advised that TSH not always a good thing to diagnosed so is not now so worried about it. Fingers crossed that the next bloods show more improvement.

Thanks for response silverfox7,I have always been on same brand ... I was concerned that perhaps I was not converting properly ,can you tell that from my latest blood test results which show T3 and 4 ?. Thanks so much

I'm about to dash out but the way to see if this is the problem is to see where in the range are your results. Ideally they should both be in the top third of the range and even the top quarter. So if both around the same but low then you need more medication but if FT4 high and FT3 much lower then you aren't converting enough T4 into the T3 every cell in our body needs to function well. Hope that helps.
