What Vitamin products does everyone here recommend?
Is there a good quality targeted Thyroid vitamin complex or is it a case of choosing B-complex, D, Selenium and Zinc individually?
Thank you

Hi S181LLE,
I take either the brand Solgar for my vitamins and minerals or I use a company called Pure Bio, but they are a bit more expensive. I take a maintenance dose of Vit D, so every other day or so, and daily I take a liquid B12, and tablet form for selenium, zinc, b-complex and magnesium. Magnesium at bed time and the rest during the day. I'm sure there is one missing from my list... 🤔 nope, can't remember what it is... I use Amazon for the Solgar ones or some you might be able to find in Holland & Barrett.

Well woman multi vitamin & evening primrose oil by vitabiotics has everything in it you need😃. You can get it from all good supermarket's.
Unfortunately Wellwoman contains iron (as do most multi formulas) so nothing else is going to be absorbed. Iron needs to be taken at least 2 hours away from any other supplements.
Wasn't aware of this seaside Susie. I've used it for year's with no problems 😐
It isn't necessarily going to cause problems, but the iron means that the other vitamins and minerals won't be absorbed so you won't be getting the benefit of those.
Thank you seaside Susie for your advice and I probably shouldn't be advising anyone else as I'm also on a learning curve.

There is no Thyroid complex that will help. Anything targeted as 'Thyroid Support' contains iodine/kelp and that should be avoided by us Hypos.
Best thing is to get vitamins and minerals tested and supplement where necessary. Some get stored so can cause problems if we take too much, eg iron and Vit D. So test
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
Good general support you don't have to worry about:
Vit C - minimum 2000mg daily in divided doses (supports adrenals)
B Complex - good brand containing methylfolate rather than folic acid
Good for thyroid health but some people prefer to test levels first:
Selenium
Zinc
Personally I won't use Solgar brand. The parent company supplies arms and that doesn't sit well with me, they also own Holland and Barrett whose own brand supplements are generally full of cheap ingredients and best avoided.
If you need Vit D then there are important cofactors needed alongside D3. So post any results for members to suggest supplements.
