Let's just say that those tests are negative. But, as antibodies fluctuate, you can never be entirely sure. Plus some Hashi's people never develop high antibodies.
Also, there are two tests that should be done - although the NHS only ever does on - the other one is the Tg antibodies. If they are high, that also means you have Hashi's.
I asked for both the Antibodies test to be done the TPO a repeat and the other one is it TG one. They are not back yet or they havent been released to me yet as they said some havent been read.
Only antibody tests can tell you if you have Hashi's, or maybe an ultrasound, so you can't tell from your latest tests as antibodies isn't included.
Previously:
Se Tyroid Peroxidase Ab conc TPO Antibody Negative (52 iu/mL)
(Negative <60)
You are below the limit so that result is negative. However, it is very high in the range. One negative doesn't discount Hashi's, you'd need a few negatives over time to do that. Also, NHS only tests TPO, there are also Thyroglobulin (TG) antibodies which the NHS almost never tests (except maybe when an endo requests it. You can be negative for TPO but positive for TG antibodies.
B12 could be higher, recommended is very top of range, even 900-1000 although, of course, you doctor would just say that yours is 'in range' , they dont do 'optimal'.
Serum Ferritin 691 (22 -275ug/L)
Serum ALT level 136 (<70u/l)
What has your GP said about these, they are very high over range.
Thanks. Not spoken to GP yet but know of a gastro scan request presumably on my Liver. I was put on Folic Acid but I then developed Vertigo and GP took me of them????? lol
I don't know if vertigo is connected to starting folic acid. Maybe ask on the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum healthunlocked.com/pasoc
Maybe you just can't tolerate folic acid and methylfolate will be better. Folate shold be at least half way through it's range so you need something. Folate and B12 work together.
From time to time, I have very odd liver results for a non-drinker etc. etc. and as I have other auto-immune conditions it's not implausible that auto-immune hepatitis might crop up at some point.
Hmmm Haemochromatosis - I dont have weight loss or any problems downstairs lol and I do drink more than I should but I have been honest with GP and he wasnt overly concerned, more interested in my blood pressure and antidepressant drugs I have been taking that could affect the liver.
All sorts of things can affect liver results including other medications/treatments etc. I hope that your liver scan is clear and that there is a straightforward solution to resolving this for you.
