Update on my results.

Cheekycharlie1981 profile image

I have posted in my old post but no one has replied so I am creating a new post in regards to my new information.

So just a heads up I've been feeling really tired, spaced out, heart palps on and off, headaches to name a few.

So I've been to the doctors and presented myself the best I can as encouraged by people on here.

My private blood test say all is normal and no action needed so feel a bit frustrated as I still feel all I've decribed in previous posts.

Here are the results from my private finger test.

CRP 1.00 mg/L

Ferritin 81.0 ug/L 20-150 normal range

TSH 0.81 iu/L 0.27-4.20

T4 total 113.2 nmol/L 64.5-142.0

Free T4 18.09 pmol/L 12-22

Free T3 4.32 pmol/L  3.1-6.8

Anti-thyroid peroxide abs 18.9 Klu/L

Anti-thyroglobulin abs 69.8 Ku/L

Vit 12 486 pmol/L

Serum folate 20.29 nmol/L

These are the test results by my gp did in March, the doctor last time printed me out results from February so not helpful. The Feb results are at the start of the thread and I was tsh of 2.4

Anyway most up to date gp results dated March.

TSH 0.64 mU/L

Vit b12 484 ng/L

Folate 8.9 ug/L

Ferritin 77 ug/L

Any advice would be welcome on my results.

Also worth mentioning the doctor now wants to lower my thyroxine med, is this right given I'am tired?? It's 150mg levothyroxine that I am on currently.

She what's to re check tsh in 3 months to confirm lowering dose. I've told her I'am tired, dizzy etc.

Help.

You've done the right thing by making a new post. You will get more responses with a fresh one.

I wouldn't reduce my levothyroxine. Your doctor is only doing it because of the TSH result but they are unaware that we can have a low or very low TSH. Neither your T4 or T3 has been done (they don't think it necessary). So if she says you should reduce your dose again say that you'd like a Free T4 and Free T3 blood test first as you will not feel well if both are on the low side of the range. They should be in the upper part (doubt she will know this). Also the fact that you still have clinical symptoms should play a part in your decision.

Also, if you can put the ranges on your post as it makes it easier to comment as labs differ in their machines throughout the country.

Adjusting doses unnecessarily can backfire on us, the patient.

Do my private results show anything which explains my symptoms?

So I should stay with my current dose?

She also said that my vit ranges are probably normal for me and she made it clear they won't test t4 or t3 but I have done them privately.

The company blue horizon was quick in getting the tests out but said my results were in normal range so no need for any information on my results.

Should I still take the b 12 vit? And iron suppliment?

Just one more thing she said my symptoms could be anything and just playing up to my thyroid results is like saying I have pain because of one sole reason I think is causing it, rather than facts.

Thank you again.

Blue horizon are just usung a lab the same way as your gp does so if they say normal they are following the same rules as your gp. In other words, just because they say your t3/4 is normal is irrelevant. Your b12 is still low as it should be around 1000 for you to feel well. Difficult to say more as we really need to see the ranges, but generally t3/4 need to be at the top of the range or slightly elevated. Yours don't seem to be.

Adrenals.     Most likey culprits.... Goes with the dizzy, tired etc....   Made much more difference to me than any amount of thyroid medication ever did.

You can test for free by making a chart....  Here is mine.  healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Or you could get a saliva adrenal test from somewher like blue horizon.   Its about £75 and worth it if it shows a problem.

Details of private tests on the home page....thyroiduk.org.uk

I'll supply the ranges tonight for my private blood test.

I'll buy the b 12 suppliment but I really can't afford any more private blood tests for the now but I'll consider it later on.

Gp was addiment my b 12 was more than healthy level.

Thank you all.

I've attempted to put ranges in from pdf on the first post, hope you can understand them.

So should I stay on levothyroxine alone?

CheekyCharlie,

Thyroid antibodies are negative so you don't have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).

I can't see any reason for your GP to reduce your dose.  TSH 0.64 is within normal range.

Your thyroid levels don't indicate why you should feel so fatigued and dizzy but there is scope to increase dose to raise your FT4 and FT3 levels higher in range to see whether symptoms improve.  I think you will have difficult persuading your GP to increase dose if she wants to reduce dose because TSH is 0.64.  Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... and email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.

B12 486 is within range but <500 is suboptimal.  PA Society say 1,000 is optimal.  If you wish you can supplement 1,000mcg methylcobalamin with a B Complex vitamin to see whether fatigue improves.

Ferritin and folate look good.
