last year my daughter had blood tests and the result said she had raised white blood cells and was mild neutropenia low liver function Alkaline phosphatase 95 (ref 130- 340) the follow up was 85 (30-180) but the ref range was different even though the same lab this range was the same as mine the adult range. her last test 65 (30-180) note says phosphatase levels in children and adolescents can be up to three times higher limit of normal during periods of growth. I dont understand why the ref range changed or have mistakenly put adult range . im worried as the level is lower again ; i asked GP and she dismissed and said she wasnt worried as children dont have continuous growth spurts but if the ranges are wrong she is now very low. Serum ALT level 13 (u<33) Serum total protein 65 (60-80) Serum albumin 37 (35-50) serum bilirubin level 9 (<21) Serum vitamin B12 354 (180-1000) ref range are for adults ref ranges for infants and children depend on age results should be interpreted along with clinical features and other results. folate 11.2 ref( > 4) prev result was 2 so given folic acid and still on. ferritin 14 mts ago was 13 then 6mts ago 24 (ref 10-300) still awaiting latest ferritin been on iron supp for 14mts TSH 0.8 ref(0.2-5.5) T4 16.8 ref (10.-24.5) T3 5.8 ref ( 3.5-7.7) request denied fot vit D. They have tested for celiac glandular fever graves antibodies all were negative . not sure what to do now so would be very gratefull for advice.

You can get vitamin D tested privately with just a finger-prick test which you do at home then send back through the post. You have to order the test and you then get sent the kit you need to take the sample :
V sorry u r going thru this, her ferritin is still worryingly low for a teenager. Sounds like malabsorption of some kind, doesn't it. Is she v tired and weak? I agree private vit d test is the next step.
What r her symptoms, and is there any obvious reason why iron is low, like vegetarianism, heavy periods, anorexia?
ok, I have checked earlier posts, forgive my poor memory. Vit D may be necessary for optimal iron absorption, so it is worth checking. You could up the iron supps I think, given her heavy periods. Is she showing low weight for her age and is she having teeth problems?
Also, how is yr other daughter? Has she had any blood tests recently and do u think both girls r showing similar symptoms?
You could get a private test on the alphosphate, just to be sure. Maybe throw in a test for copper at the same time.
