Hi

I've recently been feeling really low in energy with limbs that feel like lead! I have severe aches and pains and very very cold extremities with numbness and tigling in both hands and feet. About four years ago I had a complete health plummet and was diagnosed by Dr P as having adrenal fatigue. I treated it over the course of a couple of years and gradually felt better and better. I feel like this crash has come a bit out of the blue and am scared that I'm back to square one!

I've been to see my GP who has done my bloods and says they are all fine, but I know isn't the whole story. Any help with understanding what they mean would be great. I've just put the whole lot down incase any apart from iron/b12 and tsh were important.

Hello Emily, How disappointing for you.

I don't really understand the above results enough to comment. However you say you think your adrenals have crashed. I would think it beneficial to have a saliva test so you can assess what is going on.

If you have been previously treated by Dr P you will know he strongly believes that thyroid meds won't work properly without healthy adrenals.

3Emily, I can't see anything awry with most of the results which are within range. labtestsonline.org.uk explains what the various tests are.

TSH 1.24 is normal for someone not on Levothyroxine but there may be room for a small dose increase if you are on Levothyroxine.

B12 is high, but to be expected if you have B12 injections or supplement.

Ferritin is low. Optimal is usually half way through range but the top of your range is very high, so > 150 will probably be enough. Supplement Ferrous Fumarate and take each iron tablet with 500mg-1,000mg of vitamin C to aid absorption and mitigate constipation.

Have you had vitamin D tested?
