Pick your brain if I may. I was diagnosed about 9 months ago and as well as 125 Levo I take vit d, b12, selenium, liquid iron, vit c, zinc and a good b complex. . Just had my first cold since then which was in my sinuses and very painful and infected. Kept away from the doctors and antibiotics and just dosed on pain killers and Sudaphed. Head much better now but feel like I have been run over by a truck! Achy muscles and tired. is this normal?

A query for fellow Hashi's?
Hi Janey, I've had Hashimoto's for 15 years and rarely have any kind of infection and gone through many winters without a cold. I haven't taken antibiotics in years but I do take vitamin C as a supplement. If I feel a scratchy throat coming on I use a throat spray that contains tea tree oil and I use a nasal spray made with xylitol. I don't know if they are the reason or not but I think being proactive may help. I should add that I don't have a job where I am in close contact with sick people either.
Thanks Heloise. I have asthma so I have to be careful what spray I breathe - think I picked it up on a 4 hour flight breathing in everyone else's germs. Was just worried that I feel about 90! Everthing is relative I suppose!
You know, I think I'd be inclined to wear a mask on a flight. It would probably keep people away, too, lol. Read up on xylitol. It is a natural sugar but completely different from cane sugar. It has natural antibacterial qualities and I think it would be perfectly safe for you. It's been around for decades.
Good tip. Will do some research. Thank you.

Hope you soon feel better....
JayneyWales, Be careful about taking Sudafed and Levothyroxine as there can be drug interactions. They are usually immediate so I think your aches and pains are related to your cold/virus.
