Advice re blood test results please.

Hi. Can someone please look at my latest blood test results. I've a brilliant gp who is working his hardest to help me,and I'd like to know what to be asking for.

TSH 0.93 and free T4 15.4.

Serum parathyroid 32ng/L (14-72).

Serum calcium 2.29mmol/L (2.20-2.60)

Serum iron 8.9 umol/L (8.7-27.0).

Serum vit B12. 353ng/L (160-970).

Serum ferritin 6.9ug/L (10.0-370.0)

serum vit D 65nmol/L (50-75 insufficiency)

9am cortisol level 556nmol/L (138-690)

I'm aware that the ferritin is going to need raising but what sort of levels should I be aiming for with the other results. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before and I'm asking questions that have already been answered.

I'm on 100 mcg levothyroxine, and 5 mcg T3 twice a day. I also take 2 nutri adrenal extra mid morning and 20 mg omeprazole at night. Since doing this my energy levels are more reliable, although my hair is falling out, I have 'restless legs' at night and find it impossible to lose weight. I know I'm doing really well compared to loads of others with Hashis but don't feel I'm as good as I could be.

Hope to hear from one of you soon x

Hi Mum24, Do you have the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets) for your TSH and FT4? FT4 looks a bit low but that might be due to the oral T3 you take.

Serum iron looks low and ferritin is deficient. Ferritin is optimal at 70-90 and your GP ought to prescribe you iron. Each dose of iron should be taken with 500mg-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and mitigate constipation.

VitD is insufficient and if your GP doesn't prescribe supplements you should supplement 2,000iu D3 daily softgel caps.

B12 is low but within range so you will need to self supplement 1,000mcg methylcobalamin sublingual lozenges, patches or sprays. If you buy on Amazon please use the TUK affiliate link thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/go_sho...

See if you can wean off Omeprazole. PPI's are prescribed for high stomach acid and will deplete your stomach of acid until you are unable to absorb nutrients in food. Most hypothyroid patients actually have low stomach acid. Betain Pepsin (available OTC) helps people with low stomach acid to digest protein. Raw apple cider vinegar (ACV) in fruit juice or water sweetened with honey taken before meals increases stomach acid and aids digestion. ACV in water with bicarbonate soda is a good remedy for indigestion and heartburn.

Biotin and evening primrose oil have been recommended for hairloss/thinning but it can take up to a year to see improvement.

Hi Clutter, thanks so much for that information.

Had a look at past results from same lab and free T4 range is (10.0-23.0) and TSH range is (0.35-5.50).

Although I was diagnosed with Hashis about 18 months ago I'm still very confused by it all! I suppose it's because we are all so unique. My antibodies are still >1000. Will it help to try and reduce those and if so how would I do that?

Thanks so much for your help.
