I got a dr calling me today (coz they can't fit me in, I've tried for 2 weeks!) what bloods can I ask for, they only tend to test TSH and t4.

From here I've write down

Free t3

Full panel iron

Vit D

Magnesium

Potassium

Calcium

Is there anything I've missed?

Thank you

Magnesium needs to be red cell magnesium rather than plasma/serum levels. You've missed B12 and folate.

I've had b12 it's @297

Folate was in my full blood count @12.8

Thanks I'll write that magnesium down.

Dr won't do T3 or vitaminD, agreed to do iron and calcium only. Just feel like giving up on drs!

You can do vit D yourself quite cheaply. I've just used this easy spot blood test to check my own:

The results I got from the "betteryou" test were very wrong !

Really? Very disappointing. It's an NHS test, same one recommended on the Thyroid UK website:

I had 2 Vit D tests done at the same time, the better you one came back at 77 and the hospital at 43. My endo said the finger prick tests are not reliable due to the way they are done and time in transit. By the way the hospital test is the correct level.

Should be interesting then. I had a proper one last March, and I've got another proper one in April. But because I'm going on a sunny holiday just before the April test I wanted to do one now, bleak midwinter levels (I've been supplementing a bit). Will post if it's wildly different or not as expected.

Funnily enough got my result today. 72nmol/L up from 56nmol/L, which is what I would expect given the on and off supplementing I've been doing (1000 or 2000 iu, a few times a week). I'll be interested to see what the full blood test comes back at in April. Haven't seen any concerns about the spot blood test online, it's mentioned on the vit D council website:
