Guidance for colleagues - brittle asthma
Hi all, I have had awful problems with my asthma since Christmas. I have had two A&E admissions as well as several big attacks that I've just about controlled at home. I saw the consultant privately on Wednesday last week as my GP was too nervous to change any meds/give steroids(!). The consultant,

Can anyone answer this question are these following two admissions or not? . I have been to to 3 times twice in November and once last month. First time no wrist bands, second time wrist bands, third time no wrist bands but was definitely admitted as release with asthma plan. Two on a Sunday and one

Can Flu Trigger an Asthma Attack?
Good morning. I have had a nasty case of a virus, probably flu. Yesterday, I started to get that spasmodic coughing that I get from cough variant asthma. Finally, I started to (maybe) put two and two together and I reached for my Ventolin inhaler. The cough eased for about an hour. Question: Could

Went back 2 days later as had got worse and she

Started using Fostair on 26th January after being taken off Symbicort and Ventolin. Immediately began to have problems breathing, sleeping, coughing, shortage of breath, anxiety attacks. I was satisfied with the previous treatment regime l read that some people had experienced angina like symtoms and lookedup

Does it always feel like this
So i am recently diagnosed with COPD after waiting for a year for the doc to decide what to do, started off with breathlessness, (gave up smoking 4 years ago). Last week or so, it just feels like I am suffocating, can't get my breath and ventolin is next to no help, but don't want to seem like I'm bugging

Ventolin and Emphysema
Has anyone with Emphysema/COPD been given a Ventolin. I have had tests at the hospital in the past that shows no reversibility with Ventolin. Went the doctors for yearly COPD check (pointless really as what I have doesn't really show up on the doctors spirometry) and yet again the nurse insisted that

S/C bronchodilator infusions & syringe drivers
Hello all, I have s/c ventolin which I use currently via a Graseby MS26 syringe driver.... I did have two Grasebys but one went wrong last week and I swapped it on the ward for a McKinley T34 syringe driver. I know the Grasebys are more or less obsolete now. I have my community matron popping in

Vertigo with inhalers
Hi, I have adult onset asthma. Last 3 yrs have been hell trying to breathe and keep out of hospital. I tried qvar and then symbicort. Both made me extremely dizzy with vertigo that was not tolerable. Something in these inhalers is triggering a response. Im now only using nebulized albuterol after exp

Not sure what to do
Typically, I’ve got to Friday evening and my asthma is bad. If it wasn’t Friday I’d probably see my gp in the morning but obviously can’t do that. I’ve had some sort of virus for the past few days - first had a sore throat, then turned into a tickly cough. Yesterday I was coughing from midday, couldn

Wheee! A diagnosis and a plan...
So, I've regaled here some of the issues I've had with breathing. 2017 in particular has been a very difficult year with serious (again!) chest infections, this time resulting in 3 A&E visits. Saw a Consultant this month and have had CT scans, blood tests and ENT. Consultant initially thought it wasn't
