Hi asthma mates!
I was recently closely following the post, and all the responses, on excercise. Like so many others, it seems, I am not naturally athletic or sporty, but have always liked to keep active. However, that has now become harder, in part, I suppose, as I am getting older so also more tired. For the first

I'm new here. I have chronic asthma and have been successfully managing my asthma with Ventolin / Seretide for years, or so I thought. Since December I developed a sore throat, coughing up plenty of mucus, now chest feels tight. I have been told it is the current viral infection doing the rounds, just

Sleeping with COPD
What do you do at night-time, When you cannot sleep? I've never been much interested, In counting loads of sheep. I lie there warm and cozy, Considering my lot. Are there things I should have done? Or are there things forgot? Now my chest is wheezing, I think it's trying to talk. And I need the bathroom

Lots of Ventolin affecting voice?
Wondering if anyone has noticed an effect on their voice after lots of Ventolin in a short space of time? My voice sounds very odd after lots of nebs in hospital when I start being able to talk properly again, but I have usually put that down to the aftereffects of an attack. In the last couple of days

Asthma Exacerbation Protocol or treatment chart
I just wanted to get this definition clear in my mind. When I was in A &E on Saturday the doctor who saw me had a flow sheet/protocol of what they do when they treated me. The title of this document was Asthma Exacerbation which I now know means asthma attack. I been in A &E twice in three days last

Seretide 'step-down'
Has anyone else been advised to change from Seretide to another med? Although this is the only med that has been effective for me, at my last review I was told it's going to be changed soon. They have already stepped me down from a 250 evohaler to 125 causing me to need my Ventolin daily again. Any similar

Cold, asthma attack and cancelling breathing test
Hi all I posted last week that I had a cold and asked for advice. I was fine on Thursday but Friday my peak flow drop down to 350/500 which 60%. I was a bit surprised but decided to treat myself with lots of Ventolin regular. I couldn't get my peak flow to go up but I thought I would be OK. Saturday

Inhaler v Oral Steroids (Prednisolone etc)
Hi This is NOT medical advice but (rightly or wrongly) something 'I do' - to delay / avoid taking Oral Steroids when I get more wheezy (but before I get 'too' poorly) - is increase my 'Inhaled' Steroids for a week or so. The thinking behind this is that the 'Inhaled' Steroids are delivered in much smaller

Recovering from flare up
Following my recent post, I thought I'd just ask to see if anyone has similar experiences when recovering from an attack or "exacerbation" as it says on my discharge letter. Symptoms had been playing up for about 3 weeks prior to a hospital stay for 5 days, had lots of tests for other things done to

Asthma with possible acid reflux sinus problems and allergies
Hi im for past 8 months i have been suffering with breathlessness and tight chest which at times is accompanied by an ache in my chest and extreme tiredness as a result of which i have had to give up exercise (walking 3-6 miles daily) as it exacerbates my symptoms even if I take ventolin prior to exercise

colds and asthma
Having manage to avoid a cold all winter I now have one which started yesterday. Lots of catarrh and a chesty cough. I did take regular Ventolin yesterday 4 puffs every 4 hours and now started doing it today since lunchtime. I spoke to asthma UK nurses for advice and they said check my peak flow to

Time between inhalations
I've been thinking about this for a while (mainly since I got to the point where I need to double breakfast time to fit them all in), & have read a couple of posts as well on the issue of how long you should leave between inhaler puffs. When I was a lad & first got an inhaler (Intal), & through my time
