Variable symptoms
I’m really confused about what’s going on with my asthma. I’ve had worsening symptoms for a week but it’s varying so much I can’t work out the best course of action. Sometimes I’m needing ventolin every couple of hours and feel tight and breathless when talking (not to the extent I can’t talk, I know

Gradually learning....
Hi there everyone, I'm new on here and I'm just trying to get to grips with my asthma (diagnosed over 20years ago but virtually never really needed to use a puffer until last year when I developed a really mild cold accompanied with acute SOB). I have a couple of questions I'm really hoping you can

CT Results - worried about the results
Been diagnosed with asthma and was on Steride but changed to Relvar and Incruse last October. In the summer I had to go on antihistamine and singular. Was doing better but still never 100%. I use alot of ventolin all year round... just had CT scan done, waiting for the written report but GP said what

Asthma attacks, panic attacks and what to do?
Hi I'm new on here so thanks in advance for any help/advice. I was diagnosed with asthma about 14 years ago. Last week I had my second asthma attack this year- thankfully whilst on Facetime to the 111 Dr so he called the ambulance and I went to A&E again. I usually manage my asthma well and am not too

Back after 3 weeks resting hip tendonitis & now need my inhaler!
I felt like if I didn't get out and run today, I might never get back into it. It's been 3 long weeks, and my hip pain has almost (but not quite) disappeared. So a trepidatious 2 laps of Wandsworth Park (2.5k) this afternoon. Really I should now be running my 8k of the Magic Plan, but hey - things

Got a referral to respiratory!
My support worker called the GP surgery and the receptionist immediately offered an appointment - before asking what it was for. Anyway, I spoke to a lovely nurse today who actually listened to me. She agrees my asthma 'doesn't sound at all controlled'. She then called me back after speaking with a

Some praise for allergy drops!!
Hi everybody, I was diagnosed with allergic asthma two years ago and my body never agreed with inhaled steroids (the side effects were horrendous: depression, lack of energy, extreme weakness... the list goes on). A year ago a doctor put me on allergy drops, which combined my three allergens (dust mites

First stay in hospital with asthma
I was admitted to hospital Wednesday after having trouble with uncontrolled asthma for three months. I had used ten puffs of ventolin. Sat quietly for half an hour and was short of breath but not majorly struggling. I then had to go upstairs to the bathroom. Big mistake. By the time I came down

Frustrated and apparently over medicated
I've just had a frustrating call with the respiratory consultant. In the 7 months since I caught covid I've had 3 courses of pred, vast quantities of ventolin, added montelukast, upped fostair from 2x100/6 to 8 x 200/6 a day and added uniphylin continus - my GP has been fantastic and over 5 months I'd

Confused asthmatic
Hi, hope someone can offer some advice please. I am a life long asthmatic, quite severe, it has put me in hospital several times over the years. Anyway, it is, or was, well controlled with Seretide100 and Ventolin as a rescue med. In March I had C29, spent eight days in hospital on oxygen and developed

Bit of an update and a query
Hi all, hope you’re doing good. So I went to back to the GP after a week of prednisolone, peak flow diary and ventolin and he thinks from the steroids and ventolin helping me and the ups/downs of the peak flow that I may benefit from a preventer inhaler and to see an asthma nurse. He said I will need

Elevated liver enzymes - methotrexate? Asthma inhalers? Overweight?
Hi all on this grey and windy day, hope you're keeping cosy! I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation to me: I had an early repeat blood test on Friday as my last one showed raised liver enzymes. Just got the results and they are raised again, so I have to book another and was told I

Nebuliser Advice
Hi, looking for any recommendations for a home nebuliser. I’m an asthma sufferer, not chronic but bad enough. Ventolin inhalers work for the most part but where I live it’s a 80 mile trip to renew my inhaler, sometimes they are out of stock. I live outside the UK, Ventolin are available in the pharmacies

Inhalers and Atrial Fibrillation

Just learning ..
Hi another question from me as I’m new to this, hope everyone is well. I’m not seeing the GP til the 26th so just thought I’d ask some more advice. My Gp has given me a peak flow meter, prednisolone for 7 days and a ventolin inhaler. I predominately spoke about shortness of breath in the first appointment

Uniphyllin side effects
Hi, I’ve just been taking Uniphyllin Continus for a week -200mg am and pm. It seems to have finally stabilised my peak flow but the side effects are a real pain. About an hour after I take it (excuse the details) I get diarrhoea for 2 or 3 hours! I’ve tried taking it on an empty stomach, taking it after
