Just learning ..
Hi another question from me as I’m new to this, hope everyone is well. I’m not seeing the GP til the 26th so just thought I’d ask some more advice. My Gp has given me a peak flow meter, prednisolone for 7 days and a ventolin inhaler. I predominately spoke about shortness of breath in the first appointment

Uniphyllin side effects
Hi, I’ve just been taking Uniphyllin Continus for a week -200mg am and pm. It seems to have finally stabilised my peak flow but the side effects are a real pain. About an hour after I take it (excuse the details) I get diarrhoea for 2 or 3 hours! I’ve tried taking it on an empty stomach, taking it after

What is the difference between spirometry and peak flow?
Had a phone consultation with my surgery’s asthma nurse this morning. She has decided to put me down for spirometery when they start doing it again. Mainly I think because I told her that back at Christmas time when I had a horrendous virus - sure it was covid but we didn't really know about it then

Fostair etc - Fostair not effective - changed back to Seretide on a daily dose - quite sufficient along with Ventolin if required.

Is Fostair 100 mild or strong?
Is there a stronger version of the blue inhaler Ventolin? As mine is 100 and I've seen another which was a 200? Also,is Fostair 100/6 a mild or a strong inhaler? I'm suspecting I need stronger meds as whenever the weather is windy and rainy (which is quite a lot) my breathing is very bad. I've been

Montelukast Prescription
Can I please seek your advice? I have been prescribed Montelukast in addition to my regular Symbicort and Ventolin. I tried 28 days of Montelukast and it worked well, but I have only been prescribed another 28 day of it...if I have to order every month it will be a pain ( I don't live near the town).

Still struggling with unstable asthma
The fight with my unstable asthma continues. I finished another short course of prednisolone last Saturday and on Sunday evening I had a scary episode lasting a few hours where I felt I couldn't get a full breath. It was like I was wearing a really tight top, I went for a walk, 10 minute stroll really

Face Shields/Visors
Hi! I was just wondering if anyone else has problems wearing face shields/visors? I work in a nursery and we are now required to wear PPE when handing over children, and I'm really struggling with the visors! I can't wear masks at all ( I refuse to go anywhere where one is needed, the only exception

How are your lungs after an asthma flare triggered by virus?
I'm just curious really, since this is not the first time I have experienced it and so it's not a shock to me (and I have an appointment with the asthma nurse booked) I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience? I have just had a chest infection which worsened my asthma. 2 weeks off work

45 minutes and feeling great 🌞
I headed out with my husband this morning, up on to a nearby hill on the eastern fringe of Bodmin Moor, just as the sun was rising 🌞 🐑 🐄 Sheep and cows gently grazing - blissful. Wish I’d taken a photo to share with you all! 😶 First time on this route and I was nervous. I have recently run for

On going asthma exacerbation
I’m now on week four of asthma flare. Been referred to the respiratory team however given the current situation with COVID I imagine this will be a very long wait. I’m currently on a tapering course of steroids following 14,days of prednisilone. Also nexthaler. Lots of ventolin. Montelukast and antihistamine

Pride comes before a hospital stay
I've had lung disease for over 6 years. Bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis obliterans. My FEV1 = 30% , my resting oxygen 95 and my normal flow meter 240. I was proud of the fact that by being fanatical about taking my medication properly, as prescribed, eating mostly good food, doing easy exercises and

Do I need to be more patient?

Autumn and colder weather is on its way
How are you all preparing for cold temperatures? For the last few years, I have found winters really difficult. Cold weather has truly impacted on my ability to get around, and I have ended up exhausted. No attacks, though, they have just worn me down. Earlier this year was particularly bad. I have had

Hi I'm new here
It has been good to read all of your posts gleaning information as I went through them. Was diagnosed with COPD 8 years ago after a chest infection. Prescribed tiotropum and Ventolin inhalers and was told I had approximately 8 yrs left if I carried on smoking. I gave up smoking 6yrs later when I

Warmer...better...happier me!
Having seen the temperature difference between this afternoon and tomorrow morning, I decided to run at17.30 today instead of 7am tomorrow! I know it means that technically I ran two consecutive days, but it was almost two given the times of the runs! Not something I'll make a habit of, but I'm really

Why aren't my meds working?
Hi all, I'd need a bit of help as I'm not sure what's going on... I've been diagnosed with asthma bronchiale when I was 3. It was mild/moderate then totally went when I was about 14ish. I then moved to the UK (I'm Hungarian) when I was 27. I'm now 40, and recently my asthma is difficult. I'm on Fostair
