Sudden asthma attack
Today I have had a new experience. Any attacks, bar mini ones, have always built up over a day or two or three, but today I had that experience that many others know only too well. Due to roasting a bird, lighting candles that were then blown out, and candles that were left burning, it suddenly happened

Ventolin vs Symbicort
I’ve just been prescribed Symbicort instead of Clenil + ventolin. I understand the difference between the contents of the inhalers and when to use them. My question is about the reason for the different effect when using Symbicort as a reliever compared to ventolin. When I’m having a flare, ventolin

Quick question
Hi hope everyone is ok. I just have a quick question ohh actually might be two in one. I’ve been taking Fostair inhaler with spacer for nearly a week now, I think it is helping so far, although it made me shaky the first few times of taking it, and I get a mild tickly throat. I also have ventolin as

A change to my normal Asthma pattern
Hi all Since October when i have been locked down reasonable constantly and living in a centrally heated house, my breathing is far worse - the Clenil is not preventing and the Ventolin not giving its usual relief I also have an itchy face (no rash) and i mention it as the timing is correlated with

Anyone else on Tiotropium - Braitus (via a Zonda inhaler)
Anyone else on Tiotropium - Braitus (via a Zonda inhaler) have been on this just 2 weeks and feel absolutely brilliant - was a bit dubious at first due to listed side effects but am really glad I was finally prescribed it. Lung consultant told me back in Feb he was prescibing it and said he would write

Inhalers
Hi all hope you are ok. Apologies if this has been asked before. I have had an appointment with my asthma nurse yesterday and she has prescribed Fostair 100/6 2 puffs twice a day as I am still waking up coughing in the night and have been coughing on and off over the last few weeks on a night (unsure

Home Nebs 🫁 - they may help improve QoL in severe asthmatics, but are they safe?! Everything you need to know!
Hi everyone. Another infomercial for you all! Hopefully this will be relatively short (but you know me... they never are 😅), and it’ll definitely shorten my next post (add-ons from consultants)! So here we go... Home nebs are almost always frowned upon by consultants (and definitely disapproved of by

First post. Asthma and Covid
Hi, Feel compelled to write my first post, my ex-wife is awaiting the outcome of a Covid test, what concerns me is that I had my son over this weekend past and Monday she tells me she has aches and shortness of breath, over night a cough developed I’ve always had mild asthma, taking my ventolin as

Asthma Flare-Up
Hey everyone, Hope that you’re all keeping well. Last month I had an Asthma Flare-Up and was advised to take extra Fostair through the day to help settle it. 4 Weeks on I’ve had a bit of a Cold and think that it’s gone into my Chest. Chest has been tight and Ventolin relieves it but then wears off.

Trimbow
Has anyone had any success using Trimbow inhaler. It really helped me with breathlessness for my COPD but unfortunately it made me feel really nauseous so had to return to old regime if Fostair, Respirimat and Ventolin. Thanks

Can Oral Thrush make you feel really poorly
Can oral thrush make you feel quite poorly? I’ve been extremely fatigued and just no energy to function what so ever..and a real feeling of weakness. I’ve had some palpitations too and I’ve never experienced this..even when taking too much ventolin! I had suspected tonsillitis beginning Nov so was

Finishing pred
I’ve had my third dose of a 5 day course of pred this morning. Feeling a bit worried about finishing because while I’m a lot better than I was, I’m still getting breathless walking round the house. Am using ventolin every 4 hours as instructed but it’s not really lasting so am just managing things by

A&E visit
Just got back from A&E, interested in people’s thoughts about what happened. Was triaged straightaway (checked bp & oxygen only, asked for brief details of the problem) then referred to GP although wasn’t told that was what was happening. Saw GP quite quickly - he listened to my chest, checked my throat

Broken rib from coughing.
Hi, Let me introduce myself. My name is Amber (I'm 60) and I've been reading your forum for a while now, but only made a short comment twice. I've learned a lot from all of you, but there is a lot that I don't know yet. Sorry it will be a bit of a long post. I was diagnosed with COPD – Emphysema about

Symbicort and Baltus
Take both these powdered medications and I'm sure both these are leaving a residue at back of my throat as neither of them seem to work. I don't think it's getting down far enough. In the mornings I have a very coated tongue and have to use a scraper with quite disgusting residue. Ive tried everything

Using an Inhaler with cardio issues
As a few will know I have had Cardio problems since 1997, fixed with quad CABG and later stents fitted. Had several issues with breathlessness and diagnosed with HF. All of these quite well managed these days. Earlier this year just before everything kicked off I had had more breathing issues and had

Asthma nurse, long term medication
Hi all hope you’re doing well. Been for my first appointment with the asthma nurse to check inhaler technique etc, she was very nice. The way she way talking was that she classed me as having a diagnosis of asthma and asked about symptoms/triggers. She read that the gp had suspected it a few weeks ago

Pains in upper back
I have been having slight pain in my upper back and front of my chest, but other wise feel well. I have been taking more of my ventolin as finding chest feeling a bit tight, checked my peak flow and that's fine. Unable to get in touch with Dr's as they have problems with staff and covid.
