Eight and half years ago I came off HRT. Six weeks later my skin n my back was covered n red extremely itchy lump which spread then on arms and legs. memory loss
since been diagnosed with PBC I have struggled with memory I didn't know if it was a side effect of the illness or the urso medication. The doctors aren't much help so anyone else's experiences would be good to know?

URSO and itching
I read that URSO can cause itching to get worse. I started URSO on tuesday and my itching immediately became worse. I read that it helps release bile salts that can cause itching. Is this a good thing in regards to my response to the URSO and my PBC? I cant get my labs rechecked until July.I would like

Does URSO help the immune system from attacking the bile ducts
My mother was diagnosed this past December with PBC, she is 81 and was immediately put on URSO and diuretics. Since then, the inflammation has decreased and liver function is quite good except for fatigue which remains. What I don't understand is that if this is an autoimmune disease, do the cells

just started on urso
Hi, I was diagnosed last November with PBC and AIH I have just started on Urso this last month. Is it quite a while before it starts to kick in or take any effect ? Also how long should it be til I go to see my specialist again as they did not say. Surely they would see if I am okay on Urso or if

I have now been off the Urso for nearly 8 months but despite feeling better off it than did on it my Liver is not responding so well.
My LFTS are rising steadily since being off it and slowly but surely all the other symptoms apart from the dreaded itch (though not so sure way things are going that it will not return with vengence soon hope not as was my only reason for going off the Urso!) are starting to return. I was feeling quite

Just had my first blood test done today after only being on urso for four weeks now and my LFTs have. All gone down and nearly in normal range . . . How happy was I . . Anyone every been told in years how much the Urso can slow down the progression of PBC?
The reason I ask is that I was told at my last appointment when I asked if I needed to go back on Urso( due to my Lft enymes being very elevated though Albumen normal and Bilirubin only slightly raised at 30) that even if I did go back on it, it may only slow down the progression by a year or two tops

New to PBC
It all started with the blood tests, showing elevated liver enzymes, that was 3 years ago, I had ultrasound, endoscopy and a liver biopsy, none of which was conclusive. This year my consultant said he thought it was PBC, and trialed me on Urso. After 3 months the liver function test had improved. He

Just want to say hello
My journey began about 6 months ago when after a 10 day course of Augmentin I noticed that my urine was a bright orange and I was itching all over my body. I also had incredibly bad indigestion along with constipation. This lasted about a week and I went in to see my physician. The labs came back with

Prescriptions.
Why do we have to pay for our prescriptions when we have a chronic disease which means we have to take Urso for the rest of our lives, yet if we had diabetes we would not have to pay?
