Itching

Can someone tell me if the Urso helped with the itching? I have only been on it about a week.

Well I started itching early 2010 and was diagnosed with PBC by Dec 2010 and started on urso.

The itching for me seemed a bit worse over the first few months of taking urso and I thought that a side-effect as that is listed as one. (I also did suffer heartburn and a bit of bloating for the first few mths on urso.)

The itching hasn't stopped in my case but it did seem to improve over time. I've now been on urso for 28mths and I have nights where I do itch, others notso. I was experimenting with milk thistle last yr after 2 notso good blood results in a 6mths period and after using milk thistle for a month prior to the subsequent follow-up blood tests I did have a vast improvement in the LFTs. I ceased taking milk thistle afterwards but after another notso good blood results I went back on milk thistle Dec 2012 and my most recent (Feb this yr) blood work was pretty great so I am sticking to the milk thistle along with the urso.

I've actually found in the last few months my itching has got gradually lesser and though I've always been really a night time itcher I've found moreso lately that it isn't as bad before I go to bed at present and it's hardly bothered me. Can't say if it the addition of milk thistle or maybe over time the blood results have come to a certain level that the body copes far better.

Hi, I am new to this community - was diagnosed 6-7 years ago with PBC and had no itching until about two months ago. I have been on Urso since diagnosis so for me the Urso has not "stopped" the itching from starting.

Can anyone tell me about milk thistle. Haven't heard of this. Also was told that Questran would help with itching if it occurred - ?

I have just started milk thistle and am hoping it will help. It is driving me insane. I think I will speak with my doctor about Questran.

Hi, my skin started to itching 3 years ago but was only diagnosed in feb of this year, started on urso soon after. My skin is extremely dry and found that moisturising EVERYDAY with a heavy moisturiser for dry skin like aveeno . Don't know if its urso or never letting my skin get dry. Either way my skin has more or less stopped being itchy.
