Pain in recovery
I am in recovery from drugs and alcohol...I recently was diagnosed with " opioid induced hyperalgesia" and was taken off all pain relievers. I have torn and frayed rotator cuffs...not bad enough for surgery yet. I also am in the 3 rd stage of degeneration in my 5,6,7th vertebra in my neck. The pain is

This is affect of sleep depravation (on me)
I have long been aware that my catastrophic sleep disorder is damaging and as such I have many self imposed rules, designed to keep me and those around me safe. They include not sending e mails at night or before I have reviewed them. This was in my drafts folder. It starts out ok but the confusion turns

Feeling physically and mentally awful after lap and stopping the triptorelin. How normal is this?
Hi, I had my 2nd lap last Monday, the op went well with fewer endo deposits left after 7 months of triptorelin so that's good! I've been in a lot of pain since, less this week but I just don't seem able to climb out of the hole I'm in. Although I've got some other life stresses ( as we all do) everything

Tear in shoulder tendon
Just to let you know how my husband got on with the GP, he said he would not write to the consultant as there was no point because of the waiting list, he would just have to wait. He said no point in seeing consultant privately unless he could afford to have the op done privately too!!! He did however

How might the care from a regular neurologist differ from one that specializes in parkinson's disease or movement disorders?
I have seen suggestions from people in this group that it's important to find a neurologist that specializes in movement disorders, could you please explain why you feel this is important?

Need help choosing a new neurologist.
I am devastated, my neurologist retired! I had been seeing her for over 10 years, shortly after my diagnosis and really felt comfortable with her. She listened to me, she worked with me on meds, taking any changes very slowly and after 2 years of trying to get me to leave my job, I finally did and she

Anyone here with Endometriosis and Narcolepsy or other sleep disorders?
I have had Endometriosis for 3years (I am 17y/o) and have recently found out I also suffer from Narcolepsy, in the beginning I just figured it was chronic fatigue syndrome due to the body trying to fight off this disease but that wasn't the case. I am wondering whether these two diseases are linked and

Anyone got dysplastic kidneys with Alagille Syndrome?
Hi, My daughter has Alagille syndrome and we've been told her major problem is with her Kidneys. While they are working well now (she's nearly 2 years of age) they predict that she will go into kidney failure in her teens and need a transplant. Can they really tell that at this stage. Anyone in a

MIRAPEX
After trying most of the meds out there I am still on Mirapex with its horrible side effects. over the years I gained 20 lbs and now I find that it's coming on faster e.g. approx. 5 lbs in the past 7 months. At this rate I will become obese in no time at all - I've always watched very carefully what

More failed medication attempts
So this week I'm trying codeine and/or ambien. The codeine is 15 mg and seems to have no real effect (there might be a slight effect) and whatever it does doesn't last very long (seems to wear off after an hour), also gave me head aches. I think I actually slept better on the ambien (didn't feel as groggy

There is hope for all who suffer from diabetes, hypertension, sleep disorders, depression etc. ......
Diabetes and other lifestyle / psychosomatic diseases like high blood pressure, insomnia, depressive tendencies etc. can best be controlled by Pranayama which is yogic life force control. Many people think that Pranayama is breath control, but it isn't that. Breath is merely the medium, what you aim

Spreading the Word
I have just come back from a GP appointment to get some more cholestagel. He asked if I would mind speaking to a fifth year medical student and he left the room. What an opportunity to tell the next generation of doctors about statin side effects, risk versus benefits, the disparity of genetic testing

The doctor has just put me on Rasagiline does anybody know anything about this drug what can I expect?
At the moment I am on mirtazipine 30 mg./day this is suppose to stop anxiety but it does help me sleep at night a bit better, but apart from that it does not seem to help. I have tried the dopamine drugs but they do not affect me. i have no tremor but freeze a lot when trying

No success with klonopin.
Tried klonopin for a week. Made me groggy in the morning, hard to get out of bed, and drowsy all day. Also made me a little bit depressed. So I've stopped taking it. Waiting to see if the doctor wants to try something with a shorter half-life/duration of action, like ambien or xanax or lunesta. Not sure
