Statins with an under active thyroid.
Hi everyone. I've recently found out that my thyroid is under active. Because my LDL is elevated, the doctor decided I needed to see a specialist. They won't give me an appointment and have said I need to take a statin while they get to me. The NHS website says you don't give statins to people with an

this is a good news story of me ready to charge at doors which gently and easily opened! Over the last 3 weeks I have spoken to and seen three medics who I expected to push me into drugs I didn’t want. Medic 1 - my GP who discussed statins, agreed my cholesterol was borderline and that statins were

Hello everyone.....
Hey Everyone, I'm Ben and 32 years of age from Dorset. As of last Friday, my doctor has put me on statins to reduce my cholesterol level and also a daily low dose of Asprin. He said this was for prevention of HA and stroke, as I've never had one. I had Mild Diffuse Coronary artery disease diagnosed when

Daily Low dose Aspirin
hello, i am currently on low dose Aspirin and statins on the back of CVD diagnosis. Given the latest guidance by health bodies - is it still recommended to be taking daily Aspirin? Most studies have shown no significant benefit of taking it, hence the flip flopping by the medical councils globally.

statins and leg cramps/spasms
I have been taking Rosuvastatin (20 mg) daily for five years to reduce elevated cholesterol. Over the last couple of years I have experienced worsening leg cramps and unpleasant tingling sensations. It comes on in the afternoon and gets worse as the day goes on. It’s so bad now that it’s interfering

LDL analysis testing
hi all. My LDL is now 1.4 which is good. But I have had side effects to Rosuvastatin 10mg and my GP has told me to stop them for a month and see what happens to the levels in 1 month. My cardiac rehab team said that I may not even need Statins as it depends what fats are in the LDL. There is a blood

cramps caused by statins?
my husband had a HA in 2018, stent fitted and has been well since albeit on a daily regime of tablets. During that time he has had to switch statins 3 times due to pain and cramps in shoulders. He is now suffering terribly from continuous cramping in his legs. Do you feel it is the statins causing this

Polyunsaturated fats v saturated fats
I am so confused! I read on another site polyunsaturated fats are bad for people with hypothyroidism and saturated fats are recommended. I tend to follow the Mediterranean way of eating more for heart health and keep slim. This includes oily fish , avocados and nuts which are PUFAs. My GP wanted me

Hello everyone, I just wanted to say how good this site has been for me since my HA. It’s now 6 months since I had 3 stents fitted, I’m 60 on Sunday. I’ve done my rehab and I’m currently doing Phase 4 at the local leisure centre. I had my cardiologist appointment last week and he was very pleased with

My fitbit tracker can't get a consistent HR reading while i'm asleep or awake.
Hi all hope everyone is well First of all when it comes to monitoring heart rate etc, I am aware that fitbit tracker is not everyone's cup of tea. Thing is since i bought mine a few years ago it has always been so reliable and dependable....never let me down. I diagnosed with afib, mild mitral stenosis
