I’ve gone from 20mg Prednisone to now working on 7-1/2mg so far no problems But now my GP recommends Statins for my high Cholesterol …Is this good idea? I've read different reports and would welcome any advice the Statins scare me……my bloodwork is now good only high cholesterol …

I really appreciate your feedback I feel I’m talking to people who have gone through this Thank you again .

my cholesterol is quite good but being a type 2 diabetic (in remission) I have been put on statins. The only concern I had were that they could cause some aches. They don’t for me but there are many different statins and if your cholesterol is high I think it would help reduce your cholesterol. It is your body your decision though.

Plenty of related posts to view , and probably as many opinions on the subject.. but as stated your decision at the end of the day. ..and depends on how high is high?

I can't take statins, they make me ill. But I tried 2 different one, and then my doctor here gave me ezetimibe which has been fine.

My GP recommended them as well, but I refused them as I worked in health care for 45 years and I am not convinced that they prevent enough cardiac events to warrant taking them and dealing with the side effects. The initial trials were reported in such a way so as to exaggerate their benefit and doctors fell for it. Plenty of info on the internet about this. educate yourself before making a decision, but in the end it is your decision.

I've been taking statins for the last 25+ years, the most recent 12 along with Prednisolone - no problems to report.

I don't take statins but my husband found the first type gave him leg pains so the GP tried a different brand and he was fine. He has been taking them for 25 years. So it may be that trying them to see how your body reacts and how your blood tests show a reduction in your cholesterol level is a possible route to try.
