I have been taking Rosuvastatin (20 mg) daily for five years to reduce elevated cholesterol. Over the last couple of years I have experienced worsening leg cramps and unpleasant tingling sensations. It comes on in the afternoon and gets worse as the day goes on. It’s so bad now that it’s interfering with my sleep.
I suspect that the statin may be causing the problem.
Most recent fasting blood test showed total cholesterol at 2.4 mol/L; HDL 0.75 mol/L and LDL 1.01 mol/L.
Has anyone out there experienced these effects from statins?.

In rare situations, Statins can degrade the myelin sheath protecting the nerves, if this is the case you should stop statins immediately, as the damage can become permanent,
Methylcobalamin B12 can help to repair the nerve outer sheaths,
You can be placed on a PCSK9 inhibitor and Ezetimibe instead of you statin.
the tingling needs to be investigated, it could be impaired blood flow, impinged nerve etc.
if its found not to be Statin induced nerve damage, change your statin to Pravastatin this reduces muscle cramps.
The first statins my brother was put on produced the same symptoms within 2 weeks of being on them. His cardiologist changed them for a different one and had no problem with it . Unfortunately I don't know what either one is called. But you need to see your GP or cardiologist and get them changed.
