Early 50s male, healthy till hypothyroidism my first few months experience of treatment
I don't usually share info on the internet, but as a lot of material out there is aimed at women or Americans (I mean no offence to either!) I thought I'd stay my experience so far. Diagnosis, what does it all mean, and treatment/first medications. DIAGNOSIS Late 2022 I saw a nurse as I was taking longer

Advice for my 76yr old Hypothyroid mum
Advice for my mum please if that's OK. My mum is hypo - she takes 75mcg of levothyroxine. For years she has struggled with sleep, being cold and brain fog. She has just accepted this as being old age and when she has asked her gp - they just say her results are in range and that's the end of that. I

has this happened to anyone else ? Did you get it to go away ? The drug says it’s potentially irreversible . Anyone out there tried hearing aids and did it help . . I keep crying .

High Cholesterol
The Pharmacist at my GP practice rang me 2 days ago, to tell me my recent blood test results indicated high cholesterol. He asked whether I ate a lot of fatty food, and said I must reduce this latest result. I am going to ask him if I should try Statins, although they

oh what fun!
my husband insists nosebleeds are the body releasing pressure. I get them since I was in my 30’s, and because if the anticoagulants, bleed quite profusely for a little while. This morning I thought I would check my bp at the same time, to prove him wrong. haha - was 215/124 😱😱😱😱 within the space

Do natural supplements work to reduce high cholesterol?
While strictly not a PMR issue I know there are a few whose cholesterol has risen markedly since being diagnosed. I am one of them. I have always had high-ish cholesterol but my last fasting blood test showed everything else perfectly normal but my cholesterol was up. I haven't seen the results

Oral Thrush Conundrum
I have been at stage 2 for a few years. I am on three immunosuppresents (one for kidney and two for psoriatic arthritis). Dealing with thrush is a constant. My former nephorologist refused to give me anything stronger than Nystatin. Told her multiple times it didn't work, and multiple times was re-prescribed

Terrible hand pain.
Terrible pain in my right hand wakes me up in the night. I have arthritis in the base of my thumb and my middle finger has reoccurring trigger finger. The pain is now in the whole hand and palm. Lesser so in the left hand.Seems to have started when I began to take Indapamide for blood pressure. I also

Between a Rock and a Hardplace!
👋 Hi Everyone, this will probably seem like a 1st world problem to most people on this forum, I'm sure but I wonder if anyone else has lost a little sleep 😴 over my current dilemma? I had Bypass surgery late September 2022. This was purely precautionary following my diagnosis of a severe stenosis

Heart attack symptoms in women
Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’ve recently seen my GP for results of an ECG and echocardiogram requested after I’ve been feeling unwell for some time. For background, I have ME, Fibromyalgia and type 2 diabetes with associated high blood pressure and I have been on blood pressure medication and statins

Constant oral thrush on Fostair
I am constantly struggling with oral thrush on the roof of my mouth and now painfully in my throat. I take 2 puffs morning / 2 puffs night Fostair. I use a spacer, brush my teeth, rinse my mouth and it still keeps happening. Usually Nystatin works but this time (after finishing antibiotics) it’s not

It Is NOT just Prednisolone
I have just posted this on another thread. How our bodies and muscles in particular, react to this drug is critical to the way we need to address dosage and approach. Here is my take on how this condition moulds us and progresses. Confusing symptoms occur and they are similar to many conditions so
