Sick day
Hi I'm wondering what to do should I ever get sick. I know what to do if I get sick for my diabetes ,but not for kidney failure. (I'm not on dialysis yet) in the near future. Open for suggestions and advice.

Creatinine of 18, but kidney function returning.
Hello all - first post here. I recently spent 3 weeks in the hospital due to surprise kidney failure. My creatinine level was at 18. I was given about 8 dialysis treatments - had a reaction to heparin, so they could not do a kidney biopsy because my platelets were low. In the meantime, my creatinine

Wait time for transplant
Hello, the first time I was on the transplant list before my first transplant, I was on it for 6 years. I’d like to say that is not the normal wait time..but from what I was informed since I lost my first transplant of 23 years, that the average wait time now is 5 to 6 years. I’m sure that varies depending

Mammogram Coming Soon for Mom...
Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying safe and doing well! It has been about 7 months since I last posted about my mom. My mom is 44 a dialysis patient, last year had a canceroid in the lung, it was a terrible time, but removed (no spread). This year she had a cancer tumor removed from her breast

A warning to older men on dialysis and those who have had transplants
I am 68 years old and had a transplant in 2016. Previous to this I was on peritoneal dialysis for a couple of years. Everything went well with the transplant but I was having trouble with the frequent need to pee. Initially it was thought that my bladder just needed time to get used to a working kidney

Update
Thank you for all your support. My partner, Andrew, is still critically ill. After being told that his chances of survival are slim it’s been soul destroying. His oxygen level has been reduced from 70% to 60%. His bilirubin levels have dropped since admittance and he has remained stable for the past

Chemo induced kidney problems
Hi, I have had 4 rounds of pemetrexed and Carboplatin together with Keytruda immuno therapy. I was doing really well - and feel really well, but recent blood tests have shown that my kidneys are not clearing creatinine as they should following this being normal prior to treatment. As a result I was not

Deteriorated even further
My partner is in ICU and has been since last Wednesday when he couldn’t breath. They put him in an induced coma to treat a chest infection. He had an X-ray yesterday which showed his chest is clear but his liver is so severely damaged and it’s attacking his kidneys so he now is on dialysis. The doctors

Anxiety, Dizziness, Etc. (I'm New Here)
The last few weeks I have really been stressed out with being a caregiver for my parents. And, I have been experiencing a lot more anxiety, I have had some dizziness and light-headedness issues. I don't like feeling that way; as I am sure that no one would. I had back surgery in January of this year

Negative transplant experience
I am 2 years post transplant. At the begining of the my transplant I was so happy and positive but as soon as I started taking the medications I started to feel bad day by day. I have not recovered since then. Everyday I think to myself should I take the meds or not. As soon as I take the meds I

Feeling Lost & Empty & Numb as a Female Caregiver; Does anyone else feel this way?
Right now, I feel so empty on the inside....my Dad's health is really going down hill; and I am so not ready to lose either of my parents and this totally scares me to death. Since he has been on Home Peritoneal Dialysis and instead of using 2 bags of fluids at night, they had to increase it to 3 bags

Is there anyone out there who wishes they didn’t get the transplant and would have just stuck to dialysis?
I’m 25 years old and I’ve had kidney failure for a year and a half now. I’m going to my transplant center to start testing in about 2 weeks and they sent me some videos to watch before coming. After watching these videos I’m questioning if transplant is even worth it? seems like so many complications
