A warning to older men on dialysis and those who have had transplants

I am 68 years old and had a transplant in 2016. Previous to this I was on peritoneal dialysis for a couple of years. Everything went well with the transplant but I was having trouble with the frequent need to pee. Initially it was thought that my bladder just needed time to get used to a working kidney. Then in 2017 I had a PSA test. The PSA reading was high and after MRI, biopsy etc it was concluded that I had locally advanced prostate cancer. I had a radical prostatectomy in 2018. If the cancer had been detected earlier a less onerous treatment would have been needed. The warning is this: if you are a man and on dialysis you may not be peeing much, if at all, and therefore the usual symptoms of prostate would not show. Consider requesting a PSA test so that if you have prostate cancer it can be detected early.
