Well just as i suspected i just recieved my second set of tests back. My doctor went crazy and had me stop going to the gym and was telling me how im gonna be on dialysis after my first set of tests came back n my eGFR was 56. 1 1/2 weeks later eGFR comes back 75 in another couple weeks it will be 94 like it has before. I asked her about the cystatin-c test and she said oh no thats an ancient test. I looked and it said 2012 next to that equation and 2009 next to the one she was using. I set up an appointment with the kidney doctor so i can get some real answers.

Hi there Inhuman2019! Your eGFR numbers sound pretty good to me. Why is your doctor having you stop your gym time? Did I miss something? 😊👍✌️
She is telling me every time i work out i end up with rhabdo. Wich is just not true. I unfortunately have a combination of having anxiety disorder and being a hypochondriac. Lol so i eventually end up going to the hospital every year or so thinking im having a heart attack n they run bloods and urine. These tests are being done always less than 24hrs from a powerlifting session. So of course ck is high creatinine is high n theres protein in the urine. Most of these er doctors are just interns and im held for days as im put on iv fluids. Shes not taking these factors into account. Shes just looking at my numbers.
Yeah. It is true that overdoing exertion, especially weight-lifting, can cause high creatinine levels. I also have a high creatinine count since March of this year, but I’m pretty sure it’s not because of working out! Lol! The only exercise I get is a little walking and house-cleaning everyday, and a lot of jaw movement (from chewing and chatting too much that is! My favourite pastimes! Lol!)
My creatinine issues are mainly due to excessive protein intake. I’m bad! 😃 But I’m working on it. My high creatinine level is the cause of my fluid retention issues also, so I am really trying to lessen my protein portions, but it can be difficult being a type 2 diabetic. I do consume a lot of low-potassium and low-phosphorus veggies, as the high fibre content can be helpful in lowering creatinine, but still overdoing the chicken and pork at times. I really should learn how to better practice what I usually preach to others, shouldn’t I? Lol!
But in your case, I would think that if your GFR level is consistently rebounding to within acceptably normal ranges, I doubt there would be much for you to be concerned about at this point. Perhaps if you explain this to your doctor, she’ll also be less concerned about it. This must be pretty frustrating for you whenever you go in to see her.
I’m glad though, that your numbers sound healthier than some that I’ve seen myself. Keep up the good work! I look forward to reading more of your posts! Take good care of yourself and stay safe. Many blessings. 😊👍✌️🙏
Oh my God! You're doing the prudent thing and talk to your Nephrologist!
If your GFR numbers are increasing, I would think that is a good thing, and to stop exercising is ludacris especially if it improves your o overall health!
I wasn't where you are with the bodybuilding but was definatley in the top 10% of my age group in muscle mass. Worked out 5 days a week. Now my egfr is at 50% and I've basically stopped almost all weight lifting out of mostly fear of getting worse. High creatinine levels too so... Now I'm becoming a skinny dude which is killin me. It's not who I've always been. The c
"working out" part is so confusing. I've also read some of the Cystatic-C stuff and it's inconclusive to me. Good luck with your situation.
I think the tests are whats messed up n confusing. There not allowing into the fact that ourcreatinine is high due to muscle mass not low kidney function. Cystatin-c takesinto account muscle mass from what i hear.
I am a bit of the other side of the coin. As a nurse I know Rhabdo eventually can cause permanent damage to your kidneys. So, I give your doctor a lot of credit for freaking out and taking that into consideration when you go to the ER. I just saw my Nephro today and he told me unless I ran a marathon or lifted really heavy weights I was OK to increase my workout intensity. I have no intentions of doing either of those things as preserving my kidney function is super important to me. I am curious what does your Nephrologist tell you about this kind of exercise regime?
