I could have PMR…
I posted back in September for some invaluable advice from you lovely people. I suspected I might have PMR but after being in hospital and treated for ‘infection’ which is what the doctors said I had I thought no more about it. I had high inflammation markers which were thought to be due to infection

The seemingly good, bad and ugly rheumatologists
Due to an administrative error I had the pleasure of an appointment with a third rheumatologist yesterday. Same old story however - you cannot have PMR at your age or blood work. He wants me to reduce steroids even faster and under no circumstances increase. I can take paracetamol for the pain or

Asthma without infection
Brief history. Moved north to West Yorkshire in 1974 (aged 29). Started with beathing difficulties. Had allergy tests and a course of desensitisation injections, which worked, but whenever I caught a cold, it morphed into a sore throat and chest infection leading to gasping for breath. Major attack

Plantar fascia tear, due to long-term prednisone use?
Following sudden and agonising heel pain on Monday morning, I've seen my physio. He says it's an unusual injury, but likely due to long-term steroids. I have a tear to my plantar fascia, where it inserts under the heel. He strapped it and suggested heel cups to lift my heel (Amazon) and only supportive

This year's PMRGCAuk AGM
I have just re-watched the recording of this Zoom AGM and it was time well spent both times round. It was chaired by Dr Vanessa Quick, whose work and ideas (Quick and Kirwen) have always fascinated me, indeed had me banging my fists on the table wondering why the ideas haven't caught on more in the

Support Groups in Cumbria
Hi All I am aware with growing membership of the group that for some people getting to meetings in Kendal area is not feasable for a variety of reasons. ( Oct 10 and December 1 ) In the absence of any mini meeting hubs elsewhere in the region currently, I am trialling any interest in the following

I have just done 7 days of Doxycycline (7 days more to take) and 5 days of steroids and the mucous just wont stop. I can feel it gurgling when I breathe in. I am able to cough it up easily enough but

Feel dreadful after AFib episode
Afew months ago I posted about the way I feel after ab AFib episodes and received many answers which were helpful but am unable to find them now. A few days ago I saw my Cardiologist and told him that I was getting into a situation with AFib where I feared having an episode because of how it left me

how long does it take Bronchiestasis sufferers to get over an infection
hi, I don’t post very often as I feel there are people suffering a lot more than I do, but Over 2 months ago I had an exacerbation of my Bronchiestasis, took my usual rescue pack antibiotics for 2 weeks plus 5 days steroids, it didn’t clear so had another 2 weeks antibiotics & steroids, which did

New to this forum, so glad to have found it, I was beginning to despair with my GP who explains nothing to me. Shocked to learn how badly thyroid conditions are treated in UK. Began losing my eyebrows 2 years ago and my diverticulitis began flaring up after years of being stable. Various ultrasound

Prednisone to Hydrocortisone
My last visit to my rheumatologist she recommended I see an endocrinologist because my most recent Dexa scan (2022) hadn’t improved from my last one (2020). My Dexa scans say osteopenia but my rheumatologist looks at the reports and there’s some other formula that brings me into osteoporosis. So she

Travel
Morning all, hope you can help me , I'm travelling to Kenya in November I've just seen on the government website that if your taking steroids ie prednisolone you maynot be able to have the yellow fever vaccination. Is this correct has anyone travelled to Kenya with this issue. I'm taking 6mg a day .
