My Father's Journey / Interest in High Dose Testoserone
During the off period my Father took low dose
thalidomide
and many other complimentary therapies including cycles of Doxycycline (an antibiotic purposed to kill prostate cancer stem cells) and ProsStay (a combination of Vitamin C and Vitamin K that was demonstrated to slow doubling time) After a 2.5

Your health stories: Simone talks about weight loss with a disability
She has reduced mobility due to a disability that was a result of her mother taking the drug
Thalidomide
when she was pregnant with her. This can make losing weight more difficult.

My "funny" hips and exercise...
I was born with shortened limbs as a consequence of the drug
Thalidomide
. My femurs (thigh bones) are both shortened - I am only 4ft 9" tall as a result.

Lupus
Lots of different treatment has been tried and failed, my mothers last treatment was the
Thalidomide
drug, she started it December 2015 and had to come of it in September 2016 - the reasons were because of the side effect my mother has ended up with, she now has Pheripheral Nerve Damage mainly to her

What you might GAIN through weight LOSS!
I was born disabled as a consequence of the drug
Thalidomide
. My limbs are all shortened and my mobility is severely affected, not helped by a road traffic accident in 2002 when I suffered a complicated fracture of my lower leg and ended up with an ankle fusion.

Never heard of Myeloma until my mother got diagnosed!
As part of her chemo treatment, she is on
Thalidomide
but took her off that to balance the bloods. I can't get my head round this.. you hear so much about cancer but it really don't truly get it until a family member gets it. Mum is a fighter and praying that the days get better. It's tough!

Myeloma relapse.
Treated with
thalidomide
for approximately 10 months. I decided to stop the treatment. My feet and lower legs have neuropathy from the
thalidomide
. It has been 6 years of healthy remission and my blood work is showing signs of increased protein again.

Exactly 4 years since a big decision
So the
Thalidomide
failing did me a favour in the end. P.S. Before trying
Thalidomide
I also tried Azathioprine, Ciclosporin, Mycophenolate Mofetil and Methotrexate. I have been on a lot of different drugs since treatment started in 1998 (fell ill in 1994). And steroids too, of course.

Bob's Journey
Twelve years later I've had nearly all the available treatments - ADT, Leukine,
Thalidomide
, Curcumin, Provenge, Zytiga, Xtandi, Taxotere chemo, Xofigo and more chemo. I'm still here though very much weakened by the T deprivation. My QoL is pretty good, thanks to my wonderful wife.

Itching
Numerous anti-histamines, cimetidine, paroxetine, steroids ,
thalidomide
, interferon ( made it worse). The only thing that helped was very large doses of PUVA but had to stop as after about 18 months was getting up to max lifetime dose due to skin cancer risk.

Remind me again, what is thalidomide and how did it cause so much harm? How did it change the clinical trial process?

Dr. Richard Isaacs, MD: Big Pharma has the upper hand and they know it
The benefits of treating cancer with any of the drugs were similar, and limited studies comparing Lenalidomide and
Thalidomide
showed no survival difference. When it came to differing forms of chemotherapy for breast cancer, list prices had risen 443 per cent.

I initially asked if anyone was still being prescribed
Thalidomide
and where in the country you lived.

Long-term overtreatment with warfarin raised risk for dementia
I just read an article on
thalidomide
babies in the Saturday Toronto Globe and Mail paper so maybe I feel a bit jaded. The US did not approve this medication thanks to the efforts of a Canadian who stood up to the FDA.

Thalidomide for ulcers
Is anyone still being prescribed
Thalidomide
for their ulceration? If so, where in the UK? Is this being prescribed down in London at the centre of Excellence? I would be really interested to know.

Depomedrol / depromedrone injection
I had also been taking hydroxy,
thalidomide
, and chloroquine sulphate for my horrific skin. I've just read a bit on the internet about what depomedrol actually is.....prednisolone. I've only got one eye left, so I'm a bit alarmed now.
