I’m 73 and been feeling extra tired recently, otherwise fit and well. I thought the tiredness might be caused by Keppra a drug I take for epilepsy, I’m also on statins … but anyway the GP did a blood test, the Serum Alanine transaminase was ‘out of range’ at 54 u/l. I’ve always been a drinker but stick to a couple of pints of weak beer in the pub (an important part of my lifestyle). I guees I could have low alcohol but prefer real ale. I will be seeing the Dr in a week but can anyone offer any advice please ?
liver: I’m 73 and been feeling extra... - British Liver Trust
liver
ask fora fibroscan.that will measure the stiffness of the liver if it is higher than normal i.e.between 2 and 6 then you should have a talk about your alcohol consumption.how many units do you drink a week?2 for a pint
12 pints 3.7 abv plus a bottle of wine.
another possible cause is anaemia .i have that am 74 and like you feel very tired (i go to bed for two hours in the afternoon.Only times i dont are when im interested in something.Trips to london to see art exhibitions al lday excursions orgoing to the puband chatting to friends(mostly drink cople of pints or some zero alcohol beer
tiredness can be caused by many things i need b12 tablets .bloodtest will reveal more
Hi, my name's Leanne I've been taking keppra now since I was 16 & I'm now 36 & I've always had really pale skin & have always been very hard to wake up - my Dr has tested me over the years thinking I may have had anemia or something I've also had a liver function test & basically my drs are baffled because I seem to be perfectly healthy - too perfect for my history they say but apart from all that I too always feel tired & am quite lacking in energy even though I get enough sleep so maybe the 1500mg of keppra is the culprit? Who knows maybe it could be the same thing for you too....? Or maybe it's just part of getting older? I dunno if any of this is useful for you but when I got the email I just wanted to at least let you know there's someone else out there with similar stuff going on who unfortunately has never been able to discover the reason(s) there is 1 other thing, I have noticed that when I stay up too late I am more likely to have fits even if I've taken my medication tiredness seems to override it I don't know if it's the same for you or not but anyway I hope you find out the cause of your troubles take care x
