Low/falling sodium levels?
One thing the hospital cannot get a handle on since Tuesday is his sodium levels. On 9/7 and 9/27 blood work at Moffitt his sodium level dropped on both to 131 from 139 previously. At the hospital after the seizure his sodium was critically low. His sodium today is 126. Normal is 135 or higher. Below

Advice on Hyperparathyroidism
I wonder if anyone out there can give me some advice please. I started having episodes of palpitations around 2 months ago - with sometimes (I suspect) atrial fibrillation. The worst episodes of atrial fibrillation have taken to to A & E, where it was discovered on the first visit that I had raised calcium

Some More Info on Odd Things That Can Cause or Aggavate Anxiety & Depression
Mornin' all....I'd like to talk about your adrenal glands for a moment. We all know they are the stress defenders of your body. Several important hormones are related to or directly produced by th adrenal gland. Among them are: Cortisol, DHEA & testosterone. I wanna mention a hormone that gets no attention

Emerging cell cycle inhibitors for treating metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
New paper below. As someone who believes that halting cell cycle progression can be almost as good as inducing cell death in PCa, I was interested to see a paper on the topic. "Review of the current literature identified cell cycle inhibitors under study in early phase clinical trials targeting the G1

This is JEG 325. About a year ago I was diagnosed with Hypokalemia. This is an unexplained loss of potassium resulting in fairly severe symptoms. The average level of potassium should be about 4.5 or so. Anything below 3.6 is considered low, below 2.5 is considered llife threatening. I was at 2.6 when

16 years with metastatic prostate cancer - latest news
When I put up my last post, I expected the follow-up to be fairly straightforward - you know, radium 223 has worked a bit, but only a bit, and I’m moving onto something else/PSMA targeting/immunotherapy. But, that hasn’t really happened. The prostate cancer had other ideas. I’ll come to that, but first

Additional Info On Unknown or Unaddressed Concerns That Can Cause or Aggravate Anxiety & Depression
This is JEG 325 again. Just so you know, my magnesium was also found to be slightly low. My doctor has me on Vit. D, Magnesium Citrate & Time released potassium. What I found out personally is that high sodium intake, low potassium intake & not enough water are more things that aggravate my depression

A delicate balance
Yesterday my husband did some of the cooking apparently he added salt to the food. I gained 3 pounds overnight of water weight. It affected my breathing right away and my hand swelled up really bad. Life is a delicate balance lesson learned. My oxygen levels Are really poor today because of the sodium

High Numbers
I visited my gp this morning. He doesn't agree that 7.4 is too high a number. He told me that my goal of 6.5 was pretty much a useless idea, as there aren't more risks of complications by lowering the numbers. I don't agree with him. Then he told me that I should drink chicken & beef broth, which have

Sodium valproate and contraception
On Wednesday, I attended a consultation with my daughter's neurologist and epilepsy specialist nurse. We were to have a discussion about my 15yo daughter's sodium valproate. She has been on Epilim Chrono since she was 7yo. I was told that, as of two weeks ago, the Health Department's policy is that all

LCHF could be a boon for Diabetes if practised scientifically, but beginners may face a challenge if he is a vegetarian !
As a T2, You feel great with LCHF diet - thanks to this forum, you keep getting tips from the veterans to overcome the initial hurdles. It is a science - now getting recognised all over as a solution for obesity and diabetes. Once you undetstand the science and practice LCHF, you don't feel like

Keto diet
Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone has tried the keto diet and have you had any improvement with your ITP. Were you able to take the ketones supplements? I know with keto alot of people say use MCT oil but being that it is part coconut oil, it is a natural blood thinner.

Went on a 5 day bus trip. The minute I got back and stepped off the bus it really hit me!....All kinds of green phlegm from my lungs, more troubles breathing, headache, coughing. (The woman friend I roomed with in the hotel just told me her elderly mother has the same thing, for 3 weeks. I don't think
