I get confused with ferritin and iron results, as I can't remember how they work together. Ferritin is low, but haemoglobin is ok? My GP marked everything 'normal'. I'd be grateful for some explanation and advice on what to do please! I have felt more tired. In fact absolutely exhausted a couple of

frequency and coverage of lab work
My 65 y.o. husband was diagnosed with CKD 6 months ago with a calculated GFR of 53. We immediately changed his diet to very low sodium, potassium and phospherous, and limited protein. In January (3 Mos. later) his PCP ordered lab work (blood and urine). There was very little change. Here it is 3 more

cirrhosis and edema / ascites
My partner diagnosed 22.12.21 with alcoholic cirrhosis stopped drinking on that date. Since then has been having 3 weekly drains and wasn't able to have diuretics due to low sodium. Was hospitalised last Friday due to extreme edema in feet, legs and scrotum. Has been on IV diuretics as sodium now OK

edema - in testicles
We are waiting on a call back from the hospital. Partners edema getting worse by the day, now throughout legs and feet and testicles. He is in so much discomfort it is breaking my heart. He had to stop diuretics due to low sodium but last bloods showed sodium at normal (lowest end of normal) level

A List of Screening Tests For A High PSA
A 73 year old friend had a PSA test that came back @ 50 . He is not afraid, is cool and analytical. He can afford to have any out of pocket testing and treatment . He wants to understand the status of his prostate cancer before having any treatment. He is asking if there is a list of screening tests

ALBUMIN and EDEMA and COMPRESSION SOCKS - oh my!
partner diagnosed decompensated cirrhosis 22.12.21 - stopped drinking the same day. Albumin 18 at diagnosis, 24 at best since now dipped again to 22. How long did people's albumin take to recover - is it normally so slow to improve - in contrast bilirubin gone from 256 to 58 since Dec. He is having

Husbands collapse
Well I've just visited my husband again and the Dr says that his confused state may improve once I get him back to my daughters. She doesn't know if it will ease and she's not sure if it was caused by the sodium drop or something else going on. His blood tests aren't back from yesterday, but they're

Thyroid Hormone Transporters in a Human Placental Cell Model
There has long been the received wisdom that T3 does not cross the placenta. I am not aware this has been proved in any level of detail. This paper appears to make that look wrong. Indeed, it appears to identify specific pharmaceutical agents which directly and significantly affect T3 transport

Has anyone with CLl dealt with Neuro Endocrine cancer (liver) as a second cancer?
FOURTH Cancer. Melanoma, CLL, Prostate, Neuro Endocrine I stopped Imbrubica in July 2019. In the last 6 months my lymph nodes in my neck were very noticeable. WBC were at 58,000. I was tired but felt ok otherwise. Decided it was time for treatment. Gazyva and Venetaclex was the treatment recommended

Just need some support
Hello all, my son is 7. He was born with CKD, he's currently in stage 2. He has reflux grade 5 bilateral, hydrophronesis bilateral, hyperkalemia, distended bladder, urinary retention and chronic constipation. They all kind of play off of each other and are either all controlled and keep his function

Shortness of breath and wheezing
UPDATE: lung function tests normal. Had an ABG (arterial blood gases), results are all over the place, specialist has no idea what’s going on! I have extremely high O2, low CO2, low bicarbonate, low sodium and alkaline pH. Booked in for cardiologist and stress test next week, followed by cardiopulmonary
