I have IBS and have managed for the last fe years with Imodium. I am on holiday with my grandchildren at moment and I have had two episodes of accidents with severe diarrhoea with no warning and unable to get to a toilet. I am mortified and feeling unable to face the world. Why has this started to happen. I have no idea how to deal with this.

disaster in holiday
I’m really sorry this has happened. Have you been tested for colitis? Could it of been stress that brought on the diarrhoea? Or maybe something you ate in the hotel? I hope you can enjoy the rest of your holiday. People who don’t suffer these symptoms will never know how bad it is. Good luck
Thank you for response - I haven’t been tested but I don’t think it’s colitis after consulting doctor Google !! I just feel so awful and depressed that it has happened. Now have anxiety about flight home. Am taking Imodium and eating very little. I know people suffer much worse but I don’t think I can cope if this is an on going problem. Sorry I’m full of self pity
I fully understand. It’s an awful illness and the unpredictability of it messes with your head. I don’t go on holiday anymore. I find the worry just isn’t worth it. I’d definitely speak to them again about colitis. Both my mum and auntie where wrongly diagnosed with IBS. When they both had colitis. I’m in the process now because of my family history. Of getting rechecked. I hope you have a safe trip home and I hope you get some relief soon. Good luck
Different food and water this could effect your tummy. Good idea to take immodium to get you home and wear a pad. Take spares onto the plane. All the best x
