Sauna post-kidney transpant
My kidney transplant was almost 2 years ago. All is doing well. I have loved my home sauna in the past and would love to resume using it this fall/winter. My transplant doctor suggests that would NOT be a good idea - not because of hydration issues, which could be managed but because the heat of the

Bowel cleanse - parasite?
Hi! So I have a colonoscopy tomorrow. I’ve had blood in my stools since March. Initially thought it was piles but after Anusol and then steroid suppositories it didn’t stop. I also have other symptoms. Pain in lower left abdomen. Well more of an ache than a pain. I’m fit. I still run and even if I get

Okey, I haven’t posted for a while because I haven’t felt terribly well. I’m fairly sure this is due to the high dose of Valcyte I’m taking and have taken for all but 2 months since the first week of June. BACKGROUND I had a kidney transplant the week before Thanksgiving 2022. The surgery went well

Liver Transplant - Lest we forget
When a person embarks on a liver journey, there are many people involved in their treatment over possibly many years. There are a multitude of medical professionals who become involved. These may range from the gastroenterologist who in turn refers their patient to a hepatologist. All the imagery people

Well I've had all my tests, I'm now severe, got pulmonary hypertension so the lung reduction is out of the question, apparently. I can go forward for a lung transplant but you know, I caused this with smoking, I gave up 2 years ago. And I don't fancy having my ribcage opened and someone else's blood

rectal bleeding
hello everyone! I am a 28 year old woman who recently started having some rectal bleeding. It is not in my stool (as my stool is completely normal colored, not black or tarry and normal shape) first day it started when I wiped. Next day there was nothing, the following day there was blood in the toilet

mannitol
mannitol which is in Teva brand of thyroxine and does not agree with everyone. I have found out is obtained by the hydrogenation of sugars from wheat/corn starch no wonder I have problems, being gluten free. Also found it in other medications.

Second kidney transplant
Hi, My nephrologist is putting in the application for me to go back onto the transplant list. I am very lucky as I have had my first transplant for over 28 years. My GFR is running at 12. Something I wondered about is do they remove my previous transplant and put the new one in the same place? I

Squamous Cell carcinoma of the Rectum
Hello all, I was just diagnosed with squamous cell rectal cancer. Tunor is in lower part of the Rectum and has spread from close to the anus to the second fold in the Rectum. I'll find out what stage next week when I meet my surgeon but I believe it will be stage 3 or 4. 3 inguinal lump nodes one one

Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
Dialysis and kidney transplant are the only two treatments for people with kidney failure. It is also important for patients to continue managing any other health conditions they may have, including high blood pressure and/or diabetes. I’ve been wanting to update my Stem Cell Transplant journey with good news and today I was going to post that, instead I’ve been told that a lot of my lymph nodes are enlarged again. It’s so disappointing to say the least, not what I was expecting as I feel quite well and most of the GVHD issues have
