About a few weeks ago i had a little bit of blood on top of my stool. I saw my doctor, and scheduled an endo colonoscopy, but the appointment is pretty far out. I found this website and thought maybe i should post for input on what this looks like. Im trying not to stress out about it, but thats kinda difficult as you all know.

Hi Rudy,

Thanks for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to see that you’re having this symptom, but I think you are all over this. You’re doing great. I think you will definitely get some good answers because you’re looking at the entire upper digestive tract and lower as well. I get an annual colonoscopy and every three years I get the endoscopy as well. I do believe you will find good answers for what you are looking for.

The fact that your procedure is pretty far out, I would ask if there are any other indications going on? Is it continuing to happen or is it inconsistent? Are there any hereditary issues within your family for certain medical issues? One thing you can always do is keep calling back to see if there’s been a cancelation and maybe you can take that spot. I would also call and let them know you are available to go earlier if there is an opening. Get your name on the list. Also, you can check your insurance and see if there’s any other in-network providers that may be able to do this procedure earlier.

I usually have my endoscopy done locally as it is more convenient for me. I have not had to deal with any symptoms that would require me to quickly have an evaluation. I do find that when I try to schedule my annual colonoscopy that it is usually two to three months out. When I was on my clinical trial, if I needed an endoscopy it would be a couple of days out😁. I am not a part of the clinical trial anymore, so if I had to get one sooner, I would probably go to one of the hospitals and see if they can schedule me quicker than my local gastroenterologist.

I think from what you presented here I wouldn’t be stressing too much about it. Unless it is a consistent thing or there are other symptoms going on, I would just try to see if you can find an open appointment earlier than your current one. Or see if another facility can do it sooner.

I do wish you the best in getting your appointment moved up and putting you on a path to being well as soon as possible. Also, please let us know what you find out as it is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.

Thank you,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
