hello everyone! I am a 28 year old woman who recently started having some rectal bleeding. It is not in my stool (as my stool is completely normal colored, not black or tarry and normal shape) first day it started when I wiped. Next day there was nothing, the following day there was blood in the toilet bowl but again it was not actually in my stool just came out after wiping but in the toilet bowl. This morning when going I did strain to go and there was blood again but my second time going it was not there . I did send a message to my GP but it’s Sunday and they don’t have after hours. I believe this could be an internal fissure or hemorrhoid, but I feel worried sick now! I don’t have the greatest diet, purchased some Metamucil today hoping increasing my fiber may help?
i have no pain, no fever, no other symptoms which is why this is stumping me! Any insight would be helpful as I am highly anxious. Thanks for your time!

Thanks for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you're having to deal with this and I'm glad to see you're seeking answers. Your doctor should be able to put you through some tests to define what's causing the bleeding. If there is blood in the stool, then you need an answer for it. You will probably be given a FIT test to help determine what's going on. I have little doubt it will come back positive as there has to be blood in your stool. Sometimes you don't see it, but it is there.
Please note that this could be caused by many different things. You're right that it may be a fissure or hemorrhoid. If a physical examination can't determine what's going on, then you're going to need a colonoscopy.
I see that you are very young to be experiencing this. But please know that you should never be diagnosed based on your age. A diagnosis needs to be based on symptoms. Never accept something that couldn't be going on just because you are too young. I don't know if you will have to deal with that, but I just wanted to toss that out.👍😁
Another thing to know is if there are any hereditary medical issues in your family. That is good information for your doctor as that may lead to some other tests that would need to be given.
I do wish you the best in finding out what's going on. It is great that you don't have any pain, fever, or any other symptoms. Increasing the fiber intake can't hurt either. Also, please let us know what you find out as it is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,

You definitely need to see your GP. It may be haemorrhoids but a FIT test may be needed. It will show if there is any blood in the stool, we cannot always see it. Just read Tom’s reply which is the same as mine, sorry to tell you this twice. You may need a colonoscopy . I had this last year. It was benign polyps , internal haemorrhoids and diverticulosis. Non of which has caused me any trouble. Good luck with getting an appt. With your GP.
