Scrunched up feeling in anus?

Hello, I have POP surgery for uterus prolapse and perineum repair 3 months ago. Daily I have a scrunched up feeling in my anus/ rectum that builds after a Bowel movement in morning and I get some relief when I'm able to pass gas which isn't often as alot of the time it feels trapped. I also get urine retention sometimes during the day. I am due to see colorectal but they advised a flexible sigmoidoscopy and I'm really anxious about the risks of this procedure. Could it be tight PF from the perineum repair causing this feeling in my rectum? Thanks anyone who can help xxx

Hi. That scrunched up sensation. Does it hurt? Can you describe the pain as throbbing? Tingling? Burning? I ask because the surgery may have upset your pudendal nerve.

I’ve had pudendal neuralgia for over 14 years. I suggest you alter your diet. Try eating more fibre like dates, apples, chickpeas, walnuts, almonds, plus add Kefir or plain Greek yogurt. As well, do you drink enough water during the day? It’s important to keep hydrated.

Have you had any surgery where the doctor used metal or mesh? Metal clips can migrate in the pelvis after a tubal ligation. Mesh can deteriorate and cause terrible pelvic pain.
