Due sigmoidoscopy on Friday morning but just had recent calprotectin back 🙂For a year it stayed at 1800 but now in the space of three months it has dropped down to 610 magically by itself as I have no answers to what has created all this yet 😞 that I hope to find out on Friday 🙂 but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had such a big drop in calprotectin without medication. I did have amoxicillin for a tooth abscess but unsure if that could have brought it down. Is very strange 🤔 They are suspecting UC 😔

That is quite an amazing drop without meds. I've heard recently that they give antibiotics for some UC perhaps the antis did some damage to the bug inflaming your gut. With meds you should get that number down even further. Wishing you health.

The antibiotics may well have helped the decrease, however even at 610 you may well have some form of UC so having a sigmoidoscopy is a good idea. Normal calprotectin is meant to be 50 but with us IBD sufferers they are happy if it is around 100 at best.

All I know is consultant said antibiotics affect test results Often not getting true picture as results
