After having no luck on mtx i'm now on arava. Told rheumy nurse at first appointment i only have 1 kidney. Does anyone know if arava affects kidneys? They said i would be ok on mtx with kidney but nothing mentioned when i changed to arava....... Will try to remember to ask at next appointment

Compression bandage, shin splints
Does anyone know how long I have to wear this for? Actually using a tubular support bandage on my leg, but it feels bit better. Do I leave it on when icing? Have looked on web, but no nearer! Not major shin splint pain, just above inside left ankle, but resting for few more days as hurts still when I'm

Does anyone get very out of breath, post viral meningitis.
I had viral meningitis in June, now sleep most days as im always so tired and very out of breath just by walking short distances. Was curious if this has anything to do with meningitis or if it could be something else. I have told my doctor but she does not seem to want to do anything about it. My

Cold Sores
Hi all. Have had a rotten cold sore for 2 weeks. Slowly getting better. Have noticed I am getting them more often. Got to be Lupus related me thinks. Has anyone else suffered from these horrible sores? there always in the same area of the mouth and very painful and unsightly. Anyone got any ideas as

Have I become a running obsessed bore? Don't answer that! :) Wk5 R 1
It started when I had trouble with
shin
splints
, then knee pain a few weeks later. I read up on exercises, and watched videos which gave me lots of insight. Since that I have learnt about having a shorter stride, and faster cadence with mid foot strike (rather than heel strike).

I'm on my last leg!
I take it the dreaded
shin
splints
have appeared? Thank goodness for painkillers, hot showers and Deep Heat.... For some reason, ice never works for me. Going to take it very sloooowly to be on the safe side, especially as I tore ligaments in that leg when I was (much) younger.

C25k Wk4 R3 - Week 4 Finally Over!
Well that took some time to get all those 3 runs done but in fact this was the easiest of the 3 as hoped, so the breaks didn't seem to hold me back. Ran on the field today and the grass was short and dry and easier on the legs than the pavement. Looking forward to week 5!

Shin splints back :(
Am waiting till these pesky
shin

have gone. They started again on Saturday and only after 8 minutes run!( Wk2 R2) Have strengthened, stretched, iced, elevated, had warm baths, 'deep heat' and focused on them for the last two days, but can still feel pain on bone.

Welcome to my life...... HS... I hate it!!!! :)
I contracted HS when I was 18. (32 years ago - Yeah! I'm old). I was told straight off from a works nurse that it was only dirty people who get puss lumps under their arms. I had a massive lump under my right armpit. Because of this, I kept it and didn't consult my GP. However, it quickly spread to the

Shin splints? What are the symptoms & what's the answer?
Would
shin
splints
happen after all this training? I don't run long distances.

Pain in the.....
I had a chat with a mate who is a bit fitness crazy, and he suggested that it could be
shin
splints
, caused by my sudden take up of exercise. So I googled it to find about a bit more and found this http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/

Interesting Rheumy Appointment
Hi there, I had my second Rheumy appointment today. It would be an exaggeration to say I prepared for it like a job interview - I stopped short of a powerpoint presentation - but it felt a little bit like that: much at stake and they don't come around very often. I did go over and over the key things

Bruised shins or shin splints
I am fairly sure it isn't
shin
splints
as it isn't sharp pain just feels like bruising, friend C25k graduate advised ice on my legs following a run. I can run with the bruised feeling but they also feel bruised when just walking and resting too.

Hand Foot and Mouth disease was I'm sure how I got Viral Meningitis.
I am a primary teacher and in October 2011 a few children in my class had Hand Foot and Mouth disease. However, I was told by PH dept, that once the blisters dry, the child may go back to school. Two weeks later I was diagnosed with VM and now, 10 months later, I'm still struggling to lead a normal
