It could be a repetative strain injury... or is that just the typing....
On a serious note, sounds like the cushioning is disapearing from your shoes.

Hi-
I had agonising shin pain the first time I did W1 r1. I looked up Shin Splints on the INternet and found a You Tube video of an exercise involving sitting in a chair, legs at 90degress, feet flat on floor then "toe tapping" on both sides until you can absolutely do it no more. I did that 3 times a day for a week (no running in that time) and was able to do W1 R1 again with no problem (at least no shin problems ha ha) a week later. I also read that running on grass/ track may be better than pavement if you suffer from this and changed route accordingly. Hope that helps and don't let it stop you for too long!

This is a good article about running technique, and if you put 'shin splints' into the search box you'll find more about this too.

I had sore legs in W1 too but got over it quite quickly, hope you do too.
Good luck!
I had trouble with shin splints too when I started. But I found some exercises which I do before every run, and I have tried to shorten my stride so my foot falls under my hip rather than out front there is less impact. Everyone is different, but these videos really helped me.
