Worse dyspnea since shock
I have COPD and take seretide and spiriva. I have had the shock of finding my 43yo son dead on his bed - cause unknown. My dyspnea has gotten much worse over the last 3 days, since his funeral. Can anyone suggest anything that may help? Thanks

Help
I have severe emphesema and recently have felt as if something is stuck in my throat, doesn't stop me swallowing however really annoying as I can feel it there constantly and keep trying to shift it. I am on seretide and spiriva inhalers wondered if anything to do with these ? Any one else experienced

Up until the other day I was taking Flutiform 125 2 puffs twice a day on normal days, 3 puffs twice a day on days I exercsises and between 3 and 4 puffs twice a day when I was sick/having an exaccerbation. I tried montelukast which didn't really do anything except prevent me from sleeping and my asthma

Can I put sputum sample in fridge?
I have COPD but very rarely produce mucous so providing a sample is very difficult (even when I have an infection and producing mucous I find it very hard). I saw my GP recently as I was having more difficulty than normal with my breathing. I have no infection so she thought it was inflammation of the

daily antihistamines on top of existing asthma meds?
Hi All Any of your little ones take a daily anti histamine as well as their other meds? My 12 year old recently had further allergy tests and he reacted to dust, cats, flowering trees, mold and grass. Just received a letter this morning asking us to get a prescription from GP for a daily anti histamine

Free Prescriptions for Asthmatics?
Am I the only one who is uncertain as to why asthma isn't an exclusion criterion for prescription charge payment? I guess I shouldn't be complaining just yet as I still fit neatly in the middle of the bracket that says, '16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education', so I don't pay anyway. But when I get

Overprescribing of Seretide/Advair..?
Not really related to me, but I've been hearing a lot lately about people who are diagnosed with mild asthma and straight out are given Seretide (Advair in the US). Huh?! Seretide comes with a black-box warning from the FDA. It is only for use in people whose asthma is not controlled on steroids alone

Somewhat belated introduction!
I probably should have introduced myself before posting about the woes of my asthma and commenting…sorry :) I am 17yo, biologically female but identify as male. Which kind of sucks but hey, that's life. I have 'hayfever', eczema and asthma (you would never have known that, would you?), and I suffer

How can my lungs get worse so quickly?!?!
I'm 17 (well, one more week and that will be true!). A year and a half ago, I had maybe mild intermittent asthma. I had a Ventolin inhaler for when I was breathless and that was it. I had had a Ventolin inhaler once before when I was 6 and I had a particularly bad chest infection and ended up with Prednisolone

Spacers - volumatic v aerochamber?
I've been having voice problems for ages (ie NO voice) and got referred to ENT etc They did biopsies a couple of weeks ago and at my follow-up they said i've got necrosis on my vocal cords. The ENT consultant wants me to come off my seretide cos of the high steroid content and the fact that the inhaler

4 year old on montelukast but not helping
Hi, I'm new here and have joined as my 4 year old son is really struggling with his asthma. Since last July it's gone from bad to worse. He started off needing his blue inhaler more, then went to brown which helped for a little while then onto seretide a few months ago and using his blue before going

My gp is back
So happy to see her! Stopping steroids, dont want to get stuck on them again. I use the seretide 250 inhaler, using a spacer apparently increases lung uptake rather than swallowing it. Have tendonitis, in need of home physio which will take a while obviously, so she gave me a couple of excersises

Persistent attacks
I have a question if anyone can help, or relate too... Since christmas I have had problems with my asthma. I've had lots of colds/viruses which always acts as a trigger. I was switched from becotide to seretide, which has subsequently increased to 250mg three times a day. And I keep having courses of

Consultant changes his mind again!
Well had another appointment with the Lung specialist again. Started with the usual weigh-in BP and Finger O2 it lit up at 95% so she writes it down but then it started to drop down to 92%. Then says It is my first day on here! So I said "It is usual to let the O2 monitor settle down for a few seconds
